Great for small mechanical jobs

The tools seem to be fine, but the case is pretty bad. Unlike my old Crescent tool kit, the molding of this case is really bad. The wrenches don’t really snap in place plus the sockets just lay loose. There’s foam devider to help hold everything in place. Most of the time when you open the case, your tools are scattered everywhere. Case only ensures that the tool are in the same pile.

nice tool set and the smooth edges of the ratchets gives a nice feel to the hands while using it and a great study case with good latches to keep it close. I would highly recommend this tool set!

So this is my third time purchasing this set in 10 years. It is a great combination set to have on hand for a weekend warrior mechanic because most of the tools I need for cars, boats, outboards and small engines is contained inside. It is also compact and easy to take on road trips or up north for use at the cabin. This one is staying up north. I am not sure why I didnt just buy three of these 10 years ago to spread around in vehicles and up north.Quality:-I believe I have only broken one ratchet. All the other tools have performed strong through three cars worth of oil changes, disc and drum brake jobs, radiator, exhaust, steering rack, power steering pump replacements as well as jeep modifications and countless home improvement projects.Cons: (One star deducted for the following)-I have found the clasps or latches on the plastic case break over time.-The plastic hinges on the unit wear out and break over time so I have to wrap two bungy cords around the entire unit to prevent tools from falling out. (There is a YouTube video where a guy shows you how to re-do and reinforce the hinges but I just remove all the tools and incorporate them into my tool chest). Conclusion:This is not a professional mechanics tool set for every day use. I get that. But for between $60-90 it is really a great value considering the wide array of tools included, the quality and the convenience of having everything I need in one organized place on the road or in the garage at home.

This is a very solid product by a great manufacturer of high quality tools. This particular set has a large amount of common size attachments used on many different projects. The quality appears to be very high! Having a set of sockets and driver bits that are used on most projects all included in one set is priceless. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for an all around tool set!!

Overall, this is a very nice set. My search criteria were: 1> Comprehensive set, 2> Secure case, 3> Price. Items 1 & 3 were 5 stars easy. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is that if you accidentally open the wrong side or you happen to spill it, you will spend hours reloading the sockets since they don’t lock in like all the wrenches. But, then again on the plus side, every socket pocket is labeled so you not only know which one(s) may be missing, but where they go. Also, one of the wrenches does not lock in to place — so far duck tape is my friend. Future will be to add some Velcro or similar to hold them. Should you buy this? Absolutely. The quality is superb and the completeness of the set is very, very nice — just have to be a bit careful/creative with the case.

I bought this is a second set of tools to keep at my cabin and have been very impressed with the quality and completeness of the set. I would definitely recommend it as a starter set or second set of tools as it’s much easier than building up a set one piece at a time.

A great gift for someone who is just starting out or moving away from home. Has all the basic size wrenches and sockets. Half are metric, half are SAE so there isn’t as many as you think. The carrying container is well made so can get knocked around. Every piece fits snug in the molded case. the case has a raise number to keep each wrench or socket in the right place. The ratchet has a smooth ball bearing release button. Sockets stay on tight but slide off easily when the button is pressed. The screwdriver handle is nice and fat and just soft enough to be comfortable. The hole through the handle can handle a lock or zip tie for a little theft protection and extra security if the latches pop off. I almost knocked off one star because the case is great to keep everything neat and tidy and portable but it also prevents you from expanding the set. However I put it back because it’s such a great price even if it didn’t come with the carrying case. You can always buy a tool box when the time comes to expand.

I’m loving this tool set so far. Everything seems heavy duty and it covers a good range of bit types, and wrench and socket sizes. At the same time, it’s small enough to carry around easily and find the piece you’re looking for. The screwdriver handle is nice and grippy. Perhaps the best part is that the plastic case actually holds the tools in place properly. Seems like a small thing, but I have had other sets where you open it and all the sockets are scrambled.

This kit contains almost everything you may need for most of your project needs. I would prefer 4 solid screwdrivers over 2, but the bits and driver will suffice.

An excellent set of baseline mechanic’s tools. Acquired this beautiful set with plans to donate it to a mechanic’s trade school my family is associated with. Wrestled with keeping it for myself but I won’t give it the use it deserves. I’m impressed by the inclusion of a large set of 1/4 inch driver tips – yankee, phillips, allen and even torx. The plastic case with four clips for secure closure is nice for display and finding any tool quickly, but the tools will surely outlast the case.

This is without a doubt the most complete tool kit I have ever owned. I have purchased kits in the past that boasted 100 pieces or more but I got a bunch of hacksaw blades, allen wrenches and electrical tape. However this kit has it all. Three different drive ratchets and sockets including deep well sockets in SAE and Metric as well as combo wrenches and screw drivers..I have lots of tools but this is a complete kit to cover almost any job and comes in a heavy duty case that fits behind the seat of my pick-up very nicely.

Quality tool set with good selection of sockets, wrenches and bits. The Crescent 3/8 in. Drive Mechanics Tool Set (128-Piece) (Model # CTK128CMP2) is nicely made with clean castings, deep chrome, and precise sockets and bits – critical for securely engaging nuts, bolts, and screw heads. The driver handle is ergonomically shaped. It was comfortable for my average sized man’s hands, but surprisingly my wife also found it easy to use with her small hands. The sockets are all 12-point, which makes them more versatile, but not quite as strong as 6-point would be – but this set isn’t intended for someone who wrenches cars for a living every day! The ratchet has a push button to engage and release the sockets, guaranteeing they can’t fall off or get stuck on a bolt. The lever to reverse the ratchet direction is a bit notchy, but works fine. The set of driver bits is comprehensive – not just your usual Phillips and slotted screwdrivers, but also Torx, square-drive, and hex bits. Plus several nut drivers. Two sets of hex keys (Allen wrenches) in Metric and SAE sizes is really handy, as are 14 combination (box/end) wrenches. Everything snaps securely into place in the case. Things stay put even after riding around in the trunk of the care for miles. And the case snaps securely shut. It has a hole in the handle if you want to add a padlock. This should cover most of your needs at home or in the car. And if it doesn’t, check out Home Depot for several other Crescent tool sets: Larger, which include pliers and adjustable wrenches. Smaller that focus mostly on sockets. This 128 piece set specifically includes:- 3/8″ drive ratchet- 2 extension bars- 2 spark plug sockets- 9 SAE sockets (1/4″ to 3/4″)- 14 Metric sockets (6mm to 19mm)- 7 SAE combination (box/end) wrenches (1/4″ to 5/8″)- 7 Metric combination (box/end) wrenches (6mm to 15mm)- 39 bits including slotted, Pozidriv, Phillips, Square, Torx (5-40), Hex (3mm-7mm + 5/32 – 7/32)- 12 SAE Hex Keys (Allen wrenches) (0.035” to 1/4″)- 12 Metric Hex Keys (Allen wrenches) (0.9mm to 6mm)- 6 SAE nut drivers (3/16 – 7/16)- 6 Metric nut drivers (6mm – 11mm)- Case and assorted adapters and holders- Lifetime warranty
