An excellent set of baseline mechanic’s tools. Acquired this beautiful set with plans to donate it to a mechanic’s trade school my family is associated with. Wrestled with keeping it for myself but I won’t give it the use it deserves. I’m impressed by the inclusion of a large set of 1/4 inch driver tips – yankee, phillips, allen and even torx. The plastic case with four clips for secure closure is nice for display and finding any tool quickly, but the tools will surely outlast the case.

Tools come with a life-time warranty from Crescent, a well known tool company, set includes combination wrench in both SAE and Metric, along with 3/8 inch socket also in SAE and Metric along with 2 extensions and a rachet.. Also set of Allen wrenches in both SAE and Metric… A magnetic bit drive with SAE, Metric, Sloted, Phillips, Pozidriv, Square, Torx, and Hex bits. All in a self storing carrying case. Every tool needed to do basic repairs on break downs on trips or around the house.

You get a 28-piece socket set, 14-piece combination wrench set and a bunch of junk you will regret. The drive mechanism on the drive handle for the socket set isn’t sealed – it seems likely grit and dust will work in there and jam it up. It is hard to understand why it was made that way. Only the sockets and wrenches have a quality feel to me. The rest look and feel like generic, low quality “stuff”. The magnetic bit driver fell apart the moment I tried inserting the first bit. Wasn’t very encouraging. Depending on the price, it might still be a good value, but don’t have exuberant expectations.

I’ve bought Crescent tools in the past and they were pretty good, these ones are not. The case is super cheap and half of the tools fell out when I opened. The two red clips on the top of the case fell of the 1st time I tried to close it. With that being said, I think the case is the best part of this tool kit. These tools appear to be very cheap and I would be very surprised if they make it through their first use. If you are looking for a nice set of tools, this is not it. If you want to keep it in a truck or trailer for emergency’s, maybe. I would not purchase this set again and would recommend you keep looking.

Quality tool set with good selection of sockets, wrenches and bits. The Crescent 3/8 in. Drive Mechanics Tool Set (128-Piece) (Model # CTK128CMP2) is nicely made with clean castings, deep chrome, and precise sockets and bits – critical for securely engaging nuts, bolts, and screw heads. The driver handle is ergonomically shaped. It was comfortable for my average sized man’s hands, but surprisingly my wife also found it easy to use with her small hands. The sockets are all 12-point, which makes them more versatile, but not quite as strong as 6-point would be – but this set isn’t intended for someone who wrenches cars for a living every day! The ratchet has a push button to engage and release the sockets, guaranteeing they can’t fall off or get stuck on a bolt. The lever to reverse the ratchet direction is a bit notchy, but works fine. The set of driver bits is comprehensive – not just your usual Phillips and slotted screwdrivers, but also Torx, square-drive, and hex bits. Plus several nut drivers. Two sets of hex keys (Allen wrenches) in Metric and SAE sizes is really handy, as are 14 combination (box/end) wrenches. Everything snaps securely into place in the case. Things stay put even after riding around in the trunk of the care for miles. And the case snaps securely shut. It has a hole in the handle if you want to add a padlock. This should cover most of your needs at home or in the car. And if it doesn’t, check out Home Depot for several other Crescent tool sets: Larger, which include pliers and adjustable wrenches. Smaller that focus mostly on sockets. This is not a high end set if you are going to use it everyday as a Mechanic, but for the occasional use around the house, or to work on your own vehicle, it will last a lifetime. I started a Machinist apprenticeship for my company, and have purchased 4 sets of these for their tool carts. I liked it so much, I purchased a set for home. My only complaint would be the difficulty to get some of the items in and out of the plastic case due to the pressure it takes to overcome the molded snap in features, but the good thing is they don’t fall out when you close it up.

Very well made, most popular sizes and easy to keep in the trunk of a vehicle. Little disappointed no slip joint pliers but the lineman pliers in the set is more useful than diagonal wire cutters. So it is a little thinking outside the box. Also don’t like the tool count is with all the bits and Allen sets so increases the tool count but in reality it is sets inside this tool set. I do like the 72 teeth rackets and the tools over all are very well made and should hold up for years to come. I have been using the Crescent brand of tools for more than 50 years with no problems.
