Another well built product from a trusted brand name. The Crescent 10 inch Z3 K9 is a heavy duty tool. In comparison to my Craftsman. The handles are well padded and the longer arms provide addition torque and comfort. The jars provide multi grip locations to support various job angles. There is a unique grip area on the handles that allows for a non marring grip. The jaws are a bit narrower than my Craftsman allowing easier access to some jobs points.

First I have to say that these feel really great and comfortable when you’re applying force too grab on a nut or pipe. You can tell straight off that they are quality and they’re not gonna let you down, they are going to last a very good long time and the design that they come in gives you many options. The grip is extremely comfortable. Not like other pliers that actually hurt when you grab them , these do not… that’s one thing that I always look for in any type of tool. These are a good addition too any toolbox .

I’m always heading up and down my stairs to the attic to get basic tools for my home repairs throughout the house or garage. This new set of “slip-joint” pliers are a great addition to my collection of tools. I’m expecting this Crescent branded pair to become my preferred go-to set. These are marketed as 10″ pliers, but the overall length is at least 11″. This combined with the extent of molded plastic on the handles make them pretty “bulky” relative to some other lesser versions I own. I personally like the design which gives good grip and feel. The K9 jaws stay open to a full 2 1/8″.

The handles are fairly stiff and don’t seem to add much more grip than cross hatched metal handles. One interesting element on the handles is two semicircular areas which could be used to grip a pipe or bath fixture with the plastic instead of the metal jaws. But, setting the plier position to do that effectively is harder to do than you might think (see below). I have another 10″ “tongue and groove” pair of pliers. The differences between the two is interesting. My older pair won’t open as wide; however, the jaws are longer. The jaws on the Crescent appear short and they are indeed shorter than the older pair by about 1/8″. Even with my old pair, I’ve been wanting longer jaws to be able to grip wider pipe without slipping off. So, that aspect of the Crescent is disapointing; however, given the jaw profile (see below) these were probably not designed to grip round objects. The older pair is much easier to set into the desired width while the Crescent pair is fairly difficult to set to the exact width desired. Why the difference? It is almost impossible to catch the tongue piece on the side of the grooves with the old one while the Crescent catches and jambs nearly every time. This is bad enough that the Crescent is frustrating to use. Possibly with frequent use it would become easier to set. Right now it seems that the tongue portion is not beveled enough to easily slide into the groove. The older one has a jaw profile with a rounded center while this Crescent has angled jaws. The crescent’s jaw design fits nicely on six sided bolt heads (see photos of a concrete anchor being held by the crescent) with three different gripping positions to hold a bolt. The jaw design is much better for bolt heads than my older pliers while the older one is better for rounded objects. All in all, this is a nice EXTRA set of pliers but neither my old pair nor the Crescent will work for every situation. With the difficulty adjusting the Crescent, I’m not likely to reach for it unless I need the bolt gripping capability or if I need a padded way to grip a pipe or bath fixture. If the grip width was easier to set, I would rate this at 4 or 5 stars.

One of the best features of this tool is the non marring grip zone integrated in the handle. Why? If working on a sink or shower head, you are working on a high polish pipe, and you’re not going to want to scratch up the finish. Some people try wrapping a towel around the pipe, but that doesn’t always protect it, when tightening down. This tool’s feature does. I can’t believe it hasn’t existing until now. These pliers also feature a V-shaped haw (for increased grip on various shapes and sizes), a unique tooth design that offers more torque with less effort, and exposed steel tips on the end of the handle for reaming and prying.I think this tool is a MUST buy for professionals. The Z2 line of pliers is Crescent’s top-of-the-line.The textured rubber grip feels great vs. plastic, the appearance is high-end (matte black on polished metal really pops), and the jaws are slim for great access in tight areas. The handles are NOT electrically insulated. Product of Vietnam, and finished in China. There are 8 jaw positions. The jaw capacity is 2-1/8”. They come with a LIFETIME warranty. Tether ready, but I’m not sure I’ll ever use that. These pliers are forged from alloy steel, and precision machined for long life and durability. Crescent boasts that they provide a strong grip, even when on a 35° angle, and that the high leverage joint design provides up to 35% greater cutting power.

This 10 inch Tongue and Groove Pliers is made by Crescent. It is easy to handle and will grip a larger area. In one of my pictures the pliers is gripping what is a hand-tighten nut. The nut is a lock nut that does not easily turn. I found that the Crescent plier’s larger gripping area was better at gripping the locknut than my Channellock straight adjustable pliers

These Z2 line of pliers from Crescent are awesome! These pliers have a narrow profile for tight areas, and a jaw that opens up to 2 1/8″ if needed. The jaws themselves don’t seem to extend out very long, but something about the multiple grip areas the K9 jaws provide that seems to lock and grip just about any surface. I had good success using it on a range of items so far. It also features a neat little area in the handle for a more delicate grip on items with a softer finish.

You can’t miss on this one.I’m really impressed with this tool. The handles definitely do the job as far as the grips are concerned and it’s very beefy with a nice 2 inch opening that will tackle most heavy duty jobs that won’t require a lot of torque but it has just enough power to take care of business.I’m surprised it’s made in China but it’s definitely worth five stars. You can’t miss on this one.

Funny, but I always called these channel-lock pliers but I see that is a brand name (like Kleenex is to facial tissue).Every time I replace pliers I look for something better and I think these are a step up from my previous version. I kind of like the jaw faces having some contour to them rather than being flat since I mainly am gripping pipes with them. These are pretty solid and feel substantial in your hands. The handles are comfortable to grip especially when having to grip something tightly. The tolerances seem pretty tight as you can see in the photos.
