I guess I’m old school because I call these channel lock pliers so keeping that in mind they do a great job of holding and removing tough nuts and bolts. The pliers seem to work great and have dipped handles for better comfort. The metal is forged steel and they come with a limited lifetime warranty. I like that the tool has the Crescent log embossed into the metal plus the orange color makes it easy to find them in a tool box.

This is a well-made set of straight-jaw tongue-and-groove pliers. The jaw width adjustment is a little different from my other tongue-and-groove pliers in that it generally takes both hands to adjust the width, but I’m getting used to it. The 2-9/16” jaw capacity means I’m able to take on some really large nuts and bolts. At 7/16” wide, the jaws are slightly narrower than my other pliers, a feature that might come in handy some day when limited access to a bolt or nut. The K9 (canine?) jaw design and grooved teeth provide a strong grip in both loosening and tightening rotations. The plastic grips on the handles are comfortable and easy on my hands. The pliers came with a light coating of oil to protect the steel from rust.Made in Vietnam and China

These are definitely great pliers. Crescent always makes really good handheld tools. The jaws open up really wide and have some serious bite to grip on whatever the job is. I’ve used them for several things already because I do a lot of plumbing through my remodels. And these pliers have done great. The jaw feels longer a little bit than the average set of pliers and are really sharp so I don’t slip. Even when I got them wet they still gripped on great. These are definitely heavy duty and made really good. The adjustment is really smooth to widen or close the jar that that is definitely my favorite part because I can almost or just one-handed. The grip is real good too it doesn’t get slippery. On the adjustment I really like how it’s made without a bolt and nut but instead with a heavy duty machined part. I’ve use these on PVC, copper, brass, galvanized, and I haven’t had a single issue. No rust buildup or anything. Also I don’t know what it is maybe the size of my hand but it feels like it’s easier to work with these for me and the handle is very strong and I didn’t feel any flexing on it. Definitely a great product from Crescent I’m looking forward to see what they come out with next.

Crescent 12 in. Z2 K9 Straight Jaw Dipped Handle Tongue and Groove PliersLike the “Pinch Free” design of the handles and the aggressive “K9” teeth … (see close-up photo of jaws showing this detail)Has Eight jaw positions versus seven on the conventional 12 in. wrench. The widest position (8th position) has approx. 1/4 inch-plus additional width. The “Flush Rivet” on the CRESCENT Z2 K9 wrench has no protrusion beyond the flat side of the wrench (as shown in photo) and the head of this rivet that rides in the slot has less ‘overlap’ onto the edges of the slot than the older/conventional design wrench (1.25 mm on each side of the slot versus 4.5 mm on each side of the slot), but the diameter of the rivet shank that passes through the slot is about 7.5 mm on the Crescent Z2 K9 wrench versus about 7 mm on the conventional wrench. The ‘flush’ head of the Crescent rivet on the other side of the tool (where it’s been ground flat) is about 9 mm in diameter – and if it’s shank is about 7.5 mm – that would seem to indicate that the ‘flush’ head of this rivet has maybe 0.75 mm of ‘overlap’ onto the surrounding metal on that side of the wrench. Time will tell if this design stands up well to heavy use.The ‘Flush Rivet’ design of the Crescent wrench is said to provide “greater access and durability”… I wouldn’t know about the durability, as indicated in the previous paragraph, but with Width of the ‘Flush Rivet’ Crescent wrench is 13 mm in comparison with 18 mm on the conventional wrench with its large head/peened rivet design, if that makes a difference to the user. The Crescent Z2 K9 wrench also is said to have a “slim head design provides 40% greater access.” This figure is derived by taking the difference of 5 mm in the Width of the Crescent vs. the conventional wrench and dividing it by the 13mm width of the Crescent wrench, which works out to 38.5%Note: the Crescent Z2 “K9” wrenches are available with a “Dual Material Grip” Option. I would recommend buying that.I’m rating this wrench 4 stars only because I haven’t owned it long enough and haven’t subjected it to Hard use (and possibly/likely some dropping it onto concrete floors) to know how well the ‘Flush Rivet’ design will hold up under wear and impact. So if the Rivet hold up and if the “K9” teeth stay sharp and don’t experience any chips (i.e., the steel is high quality and hardened just right)… I’d give it 5 stars because of its design advantages.

These pliers are comfortable to use and large enough to use on most (normal) household applications. The grips are rubberized which makes them soft in the hand. The jaws have multiple positions and are fairly easy to move from one position to the next. The jaws are serrated which adds a lot of grip to the item you are trying to turn or hold. The jaws open to fit a 2.5” item although once open that far, the handles are more spread out at the bottom which makes them a little harder to use. Overall, these seem to be a good pair of adjustable pliers that will come in handy for any homeowner or DIY’r.
