These are huge in a good way! I have several tanks at work with bulkhead fittings that have a 4″ nut to secure them. Not many tools area available that will go that large so I have relied on these for years when the gaskets need to be changed to prevent leaks. After my truck was broken into and my others were stolen I had to replace these knowing the seals were due for a change. Knowing I can rely on these to get the job done makes for one less thing to worry about.

These are mechanic grade tongue and groove/channel lock pliers. Call them what you want but these pliers are large, with large jaws that have an aggressive grip. The handles are plastic coated for comfort and the protection of the tool. With such long handles it’s easy to get leverage on even the hardest to loosen pipe. I use mine to loosen automotive oil filters as well.

For those interested in country of origin, this plier was made in Vietnam and “Finished” in China. The handles are long, well padded, and easy to grip. The handles extend to open almost 30 degrees to allow for a easy fit.The jaws are well designed and allow for easy grip of pipe without slipping or shredding. On a large pipe, the jaws were open to full extent and easily allowed for a secure and safe grip of the pipes.Seems to be made of steel so it is heavy, but not overly so.

Crescent’s 16-1/2 in. pliers are high quality and plenty strong enough. In the last few years, I’ve been enticed by some cheap tools that once on the job I have found them to be of such poor quality that I end up throwing them away. I’m happy to see that Crescent’s hand tools do not cut corners. These pliers are easy to adjust and super strong. This tool is designed to provide a tight grip and plenty of leverage. I don’t use such a large pliers daily, but there are times when they are the only tool for the job. Its easy for me to recommend Crescent pliers – they’re impressive.

These Crescent 16-1/2 inch tongue and groove pliers are excellent. The construction/quality is top-notch and the appearance is nice. These are large pliers and they are capable of applying great force to any material you want to use them on. They are great for plumbing applications where you need to grip or turn a pipe or fitting. Their jaw design allows up to a 30 degree off set when clamping down on a pipe, tube or other similar shaped item. These pliers open wide enough to use them to remove oil filters, jar lids, bottle caps or any other hard-to-remove items. In the old days we referred to these as “water pump pliers” and I don’t know why but they are extremely useful. The jaws open up very widely and the teeth are real sharp so they can fit a whole lot of surfaces. The handles are covered in non-slip plastic that makes using these pliers more comfortable. Again, these are big, heavy pliers but they are excellent and will come in useful for many projects. I highly recommend them.

I’ve been buying Crescent tools for a little while now due to the craftsmanship, and these are just as good if not better as the rest that I own. This 16″ Crescent has a wide 10 jaw position selection and the tooth design is pretty aggressive and grips well which allows great torque. They definitely have some weight to them and the dipped handles are a nice feature. They grip in your hands well. These will last a lifetime.

I have a client who’s manufacturing process requires a lot of water filtration that is always in need of repair or modification. The Crescent 16 inch tongue and groove pliers are perfect for removing galvanized unions or other joint fittings. With ten positions and the long reach, the repair or upgrade process will be much easier with these pliers. The narrow jaw design allows for better access in tight locations and the leverage increase makes for a faster and easier job completion.

If you really need to get a grip on something, reach for this Crescent 16.5 inch straight jaw tongue and groove pliers. You’ll find in most cases it’s stronger than a pipe wrench. The slip groove design is very exact and stought. With over 4 inch of working room it’ll handle most jobs from pipes to stuck valves to those old frozen nuts and bolts. Lots of leverage and easy to work with too.
