Have tried several different external enclosures with different chipsets(jmicron, realtek) on different controller types(USB 3.1/3.0, Thunderbolt 3) connected direct and also connected via several powered hubs. All tests with this NVME results in 250-550MB/s on the Mac mini M1. Using the same enclosures, have tested a Seagate 510 and Western Digital SN750 with consistent speeds of 2700+MB/s. Crucial’s customer service was quick to respond, RMA the drive, send out a new drive, and assist via their customer T1 and T2 agents, however they could not provide a resolution to the issue.

The drive installed easily without the need for drivers. It’s a great second drive for my Asus ROG Strix Advantage Edition!

My first M.2 MVMe SSD. It’s storage, so other than to say it’s fast and convenient there isn’t much to say. I use a fanless case so mine runs a little hot. No wiring for the drive makes for a clean installation. If I didn’t use an optical drive, the only wiring other than the power supply. B&H is a quick reliable shipper and the purchase was easy.

An awesome upgrade from my old drive and at an unbeatable price.

I bought two of these cards for use in a Mac Pro 5,1 with a Sonnet M.2 4×4 PCIe card. I already had a Samsung 970 Plus that was running great on a Startech card and on the Sonnet card it was twice as fast going from 1500MB/sec to over 3000MB/sec. I installed both Crucial P5 NVMe in the Sonnet card and my system wouldn’t start and after removing one Crucial NVMe I and the system started I then was able to see and format the remaining NVMe. After testing that Crucial chip with both the Sonnet and Startech cards I only was able to get less than 300MB/sec on either card. So either these NVMes are not very good or they have a bad batch going out.

Fast, works well. Used for about a week now, no issues. Using it for dual booting W10 + Ubuntu. I’ll update this if it changes, but I can’t imagine changing the review any time soon.
