Crucial was out of stock so B&H was my next stop. I highly recommend buying something as vital as ram from a reputable seller like B&H. There are a lot of knockoffs out here and if your computer gets ruined you probably wont have any recourse. Of course buying from B&H is the smart choice for a plethora of reasons. I am satisfied and my computer is working as expected.

Crucial IS Micron, so this is a minor technicality, but I ordered a Crucial SODIMM (CRCT16G4SFD8) module and was substituted a Micron-branded one (MTA16ATF2G64HZ-2G6J1) instead. I really don’t mind, but there was no warning for the substitution. In hindsight I should have ordered a PC4-19200 module but so far so good! And the price has skyrocketed so much that going to find the perfect module can wait.

I have a Mac mini 2018 with i7 and 8 GB of RAM with a 5700 XT as the eGPU setup. I play lots of video games and using this previous setup to run at max graphics at 4k is impossible for most games. Many games crashed because of insufficient memory issue, so I decided to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB betting this could improve the situation, and honestly I didn’t have high expectation. To my surprise, it paid off! I can now reliably play Monster Hunter World: Iceborne at max graphical settings in 4k with high resolution texture. Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes also work at almost max graphical settings in 4k flawlessly. If you are like me and want to play modern video games at pretty much the highest settings with the Mac mini with eGPU setups, I highly recommend this 16 GB RAM kit.

This RAM works as expected in the 2019 iMac with i9 processor. I ordered the iMac with 8 Gig of RAM. I just swap out the two 4 Gig RAM modules that came with the machine with the 16 Gig RAM modules that came with this kit. I inserted the two 4 Gig RAM modules that came with the machine into the remaining two unoccupied slots. This results in a total of 40 Gig of RAM. In order to remove each of the two RAM modules that came with the machine, just pull up on the module.

I Bought this computer to work with multiple software instruments at the same time in my DAW (primarily Apples MainStage 3) and it absolutely smokes other top of the line MacBook Pros Ive had in the past. I bought a MacMini with 8GB of memory on purpose and bought this 32GB of memory from BH at the same time since it is just as good but a fraction of the price of buying Apple Branded RAM. Super easy to install (although you DO need to buy a SAFETY hex screwdriver set – cheap on amazon but NOT in your local hardware store. SAFETY hex screwdrivers have a pinpoint in the middle of the driver to work with safety hex screws and regular hex, star, or Allen keys will not work). Once the 32GB of RAM was installed the computer was unstoppable!
