I replaced ram and installed a new SSD drive and the computer has come back to life. I also had to replace the SATA hard drive cable in order to fix the problems I was having with my MacBook Pro.

My 2.3 GHz i7 15 2012 MacBook Pro only shipped with 4GB of RAM. I constantly had issues with slow performance and software crashes (I’m a video editor). But, the moment I installed this 16GB RAM set from Crucial, I noticed much more reliable performance and increased speeds while using applications ranging from video editing apps (Media Composer, Premiere and FCPX – I use them all) to simple text apps and browsers. Since installing the additional RAM, I also installed a 240GB Crucial SSD and now my MacBook Pro is like a new animal screaming with speed and performance across all apps. I chose Crucial because I used them previously and never had a problem. Installing the max RAM on your computer is a crucial update for any serious computer user – and it’s also extremely easy to do yourself. BTW – B&H always has the best prices and service anywhere. Couldn’t be happier.

Just replaced the original 500GB HD of my early 2011 Macbook Pro for a new Crucial 512GB MX100 2.5 Internal Solid State Drive and am very surprised with the new performance. It seems I’ve got a brand new laptop! Added the 16GB ram as well to help deal with Yosemite OS X.

With this memory upgrade which is a fraction of the cost from what Apple wanted. I can now edit video using Final Cut Pro X on my 13 Macbook ProBefore I would get the pinwheel for upwards of 5-7 minutes just to add a cross fade into a scene. Last night I was able to render a 51 minute documentary with 5 audio tracks and 7 layers of video…incredible..

Perfect upgrade for my iMac. And the price is right.

The two 8 GB modules arrived quickly and perfectly protected. Apple support has very clear online instructions on how to add them to the iMac. It is extremely easy to do (I had my daughter do it so she would learn how). It took ten minutes. When I powered the iMac back on, the memory was instantly recognized. For the very low cost of the additional 16 GB memory, it’s a must-do upgrade.

I bought two kits to upgrade my new 27 iMac with retinal 5K display from original 8GB into 32GB. Main applications are mainly running Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. The memory upgrade was very simple, just opened up the memory door at the back of 27 panel, pop the two 4GB SODIMM out and inserted the four new 8GB modules in. Closed the door and rebooted the iMac. The iMac immediately recognized the new memory and ran smoothly without any problem. I monitored the memory usages for my iMac running Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. It basically runs at average 8GB or less (at peak to 12GB) without using any HDD memory swap at all that reduced the latency from HDD read/write. Technically speaking, in the application like mine, probably 16GB total memory should be enough. Maybe will use more memories if you have all your applications opened at same time. But I haven’t tried that to see how much RAM it will consumes.
