Bought this in 2018 for my 2011 MacBook pro to be able to work with 4k footage. I can now run da Vinci resolve and work fairly easily with footage, certainly better than before when the program weird freeze up and crash because this MacBook was never designed with that kind of editing in mind. My MacBook heats up a lot, but then it did this before I bought the RAM. I’m happy so far, haven’t put the computer through the paces yet. I say go for it if you need your MacBook to perform a little faster offline.

Deb potenciar la RAM de mi Macbook pro del 2012 y aunque el fabricante de mi equipo indica que solo se puede aumentar a 8Mb reconoce perfectamente los 16Mb aunque no s si efectivamente trabaja con estos 16Mb o solo perd dinero pero si puedo asegurar que ahora es mucho mas fluido mi trabajo en edicin de fotografas de gran tamao y eso era lo que buscaba, entonces cumpli su cometido.

In an effort to breathe a little more life into an old (but great) machine, I did quite a bit of research to verify the maximum amount of RAM it would hold. While on the webpage, I opened a chat with a B&H customer service person who was able to quickly confirm I had chosen the correct RAM for this model. Making the upgrade from 4GB to 16GB is amazing. The late 2011 MBP is so much faster, can’t believe we didn’t do this a long time ago! I would definitely recommend this without hesitation.

I make videos for a living. I use a 2.5GHz i7 Late 2011 17 MacBook Pro, and it was lightning fast in the beginning. Came with Snow Leopard. Then, by the time I got to Mavericks, I had to buy an SSD to make it fast again, because the new OSes always make everything slower. Earlier this year I upgraded to OS Sierra and everything worked correctly, but very slowly compared to the old Snow Leopard days. Things were slow again. I’ve always only ever been able to edit 1080p video in proxy, using ProRes Proxy as my editing codec. That was with 8GB of RAM on an external USB 3 drive, piped in via thunderbolt adapter (no RAID). Upgrading my RAM to 16GB with this RAM enabled me to edit in full HD ProRes codecs without any chopping during playback! I can almost get away with full res 4K, but it still chops about once every two seconds. I should have done this years ago.

Upgraded from 4GB to 16GB in my MacBook Pro and everything is much smoother now. Especially when running larger channel counts and effects in my recording software. I waited a couple months before I wrote this just to have a chance to use it and see if anything is different. The MB gets a little warm but I don’t know that it’s any hotter than it was before.

I decided to upgrade the memory for my early 2011 MBP after experiencing a few performance issues when running multiple applications. As software apps are becoming larger in size, it seems a minimum of 16GB RAM is the norm for running things a bit smoother as well as the processing speed. So, I’m now maxed out at 16GB of RAM. Though I’m noticing slight improvements since the upgrade, but nothing of a major change. Speed seems to be up a bit when it comes to loading apps, but gratefully no crashes when running numerous apps. Overall, the upgrade is decent and look forward to having my ‘ol school early 2011 MBP for a while.

Had to call customer service as Apples specific model identification isn’t straight forward, B&H’s customer service was very fast and accurate. The Memory installed very quickly and easily, Apple has a very short video on how to install, for i mac’s it’s the only thing that can be installed without taking the screen off. Even larger memory is available, I wish I would have checked if larger module’s (32 gig) were compatible with a 2012 i mac.

It works exactly as expected, but the real story here is the extraordinary way B&H Photo’s Customer Service handled my return on another memory – I was given incorrect information from the vendor of my laptop telling me my laptop is compatible with the memory with higher speed. Well, they were WRONG! But, B&H not only paid for the return shipping of the wrong memory, but are paying to ship me the RIGHT product and even refunded the difference in price!!! I LOVE you guys! and, I WILL be back.
