The 4GB DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM Memory Module from Crucial provides a capacity of 4GB for notebooks as well as most NUCs. This RAM chip is compatible with systems that have a 260-pin slot and support non-ECC, unbuffered DDR4 memory. It features a CAS latency of 17 and a speed of 2400 MHz. With more memory, the computer can better handle demanding applications as well as run multiple programs at the same time. In addition, it operates at 1.2V and offers other energy features to reduce power consumption.

The hardest part of this job was opening up the laptop (HP, are you listening?) but once I got in the case, the RAM upgrade was simple. And when I fired up the laptop, Zoom! Much more better performance and speed. Need to order another Crucial memory card to max out the unit. Once I recover from the disassemble process…!

The packaging for this product was destroyed. There were holes in the bag and it was completely filthy and dirty. However the memory cards and their blister packaging was perfectly fine. The chips were in great condition and my laptop works amazingly better now!

Apple makes wonderful computers, but charges an arm and a leg for upgrading the RAM. Order your iMac through B&H to save the tax with minimum RAM and buy the 16GB (2 x 8GB) or 32GB (2x 16GB) memory kit to give you a total of 24 or 40GB. From my days of building windows computers, when I got the 2x16GB kit, I elected to remove the 2x4GB memory boards and put the new 2x16GB in their place. Then I put the original 2x4GB boards in the remaining 2 slots. See the accompanying photo of the boards installed. My rationale for this was that the motherboard was very likely designed to access 2 boards at a time in an ‘interleaved’ fashion, so you need to put equal memory in each one of the paired slots. I used the largest memory in the first pair of interleaved slots, as there is a small slow-down when a program memory needs crosses the pair boundary. In this case, I made that pair boundary as high as I could at 32GB by putting the largest memory cards in the first paired slots. Usually 32GB will hold all of my needs and nothing will have to cross the pair boundary’

My Dell XPS 15 9560 came with 16gb of RAM. I could edit 4k video, but it was laggy. After installing this RAM into the computer, everything booted up immediately and the computer is much better working 4k video. Practically no lag at 4k 30fps, and much faster doing 4k 60fps.
