Easy install in the two empty memory banks and recognized on startup. Makes photo editing so much more efficient. Think about ordering another set to replace the 2x4GB that came with the iMac.

I’m updating my previous review. I bought an iMac 5K and this memory does work well in it BUT only if you use Crucial memory without Apple memory. If you add these modules to an iMac 5K that also has stock Apple memory, you will get kernel panics and it will constantly freeze up and reboot. After a day of this, I wasn’t able to start my mac at all and had to bring it into the @. If you run a diagnostic check with both types of memory you will get an error. Run the diagnostic check with just the Crucial memory or just the Apple memory everything works fine and you won’t run into any problems. So yes, it works great on it’s own BUT DO NOT MIX WITH APPLE MEMORY, they do not play well together! I hope this saves other iMac 5K users some headaches. Thank you to both B&H and Apple for helping me resolve this issue!

I didn’t know that my MBP could use 16GB, it says it maxes out at 8GB but it is using all 16GB that I installed (2×8). I do a little work in video editing and even play some games (Civilization), so it helped increase the speed in those programs a lot. I also am able to keep more programs running without slowdown. I’m not sure if it was the update to Yosemite or the newly installed RAM (I did both around the same time) but it takes my computer a bit of time to wake from sleep now. Specifically, my keyboard and trackpad will take ~minute to respond.

From the Crucial website it was easy to determine what kind of memory I needed. I ordered through B & H and the process was easy and delivery quick! With this memory upgrade which is a fraction of the cost from what Apple wanted. I can now edit video using Final Cut Pro X on my 13 Macbook ProBefore I would get the pinwheel for upwards of 5-7 minutes just to add a cross fade into a scene. Last night I was able to render a 51 minute documentary with 5 audio tracks and 7 layers of video…incredible..
