It is possible to add up to 32 megs to a 27 inch IMAC. What I was not told is that you can not leave the computer unbalanced . That means that all 4 available slots must be equal . You can have 2 4 meg or 4 4 meager 2 8meg or 4 8 meg but you can not mix the memory sticks. I ended with 32 megs.

I bought my unit with 16gb, this was a great addition (2 times the speed). Easy to install in 5k iMac , found a website that offers instructions..just pop the lid at the back, slide it in and good to go. Over a month now and no problems.

These were installed in a late 2015 27 iMac 5K Retina. Although they are technically slower than the ones recommended for this iMac (the late 2015 iMac 5K Retina can take up to PC3-14900, these are PC3-12800), when performance was compared between these and the higher speed devices no detectable difference in machine performance could be detected.They worked well and as expected with no negative issues whatsoever. They can be thoroughly recommended as a cost effective and efficient way to improve your iMac’s performance.
