I have 4 rice cookers in use (I kid you not). One is old, for steaming or flavored rice. One is larger in size, for 3 cups (uncooked rice) or more. One is specialty (expensive, fuzzy logic) that I use for congee (porridge) or sushi. And this Cuisinart one, for myself – when I make dinner and want some for my lunch box the day after.The quality of cooked rice is great. The non-stick pot is durable – as long as you don’t scratch it with anything sharp (knife or bones). I do not make flavored rice on this, as I do not want to ruin it with oil/grease and seasonings.My complaints are: (1) It splatters all over the counter. I tend to use more water because I like my [short grain] rice really tender. As such, I prefer a rice cooker with fully-closed lid but has a steam/drip container rather than one with a vent that puff the steam out. (2) The pot cover is loose. If you’re not careful, it is easy to slide it off the pot and possible break it. I prefer one that has a lid fully attached to the unit.I am now looking for a fifth rice cooker that is small enough but has an attached lid and does not splatter. 🙂

After reading the reviews for this product, I decided to purchase it. I mainly cook rice in small batches, but I have steamed vegetables in it. Like some other reviewers have noted, you have to rinse the rice to prevent boiling over. I rinse the rice at least three times. The bubbling comes to the top of the container, but does not run out. The rice tastes great! I highly recommend this for small batch users.

We bought the rice cooker so we could make effortless rice! It does make great rice, but my only peeve is that it tends to bubble over even when you only have 1 cup of rice and water in the pot. If you do not place the cooker on top of a towel you will have a mess on your counter. I’m afraid to cook a larger amount, even though the maximum level is nearly to the top of the pot. It did work nicely to steam broccoli, though. I would like to recommend it, as Cuisinart does make a great product in general, but the fact that you do have to watch it makes the implied ease of use not so easy.

It’s a very pretty rice cooker compared to others. The rice doesn’t stick to the inside like the cheaper cookers. Be careful with brown basmati rice, if you put 3 cups in, it overflows. Other than that, I’m happy with the product.
