I have had this for a little over 2 months and it has been very good so far. It recommends dark roast coffee. I always brew it on dark which seems to be the best option. The amount of time it says to brew in the manual is correct. It’s only about 45 minutes on the dark cycle. So far so good.

I don’t drink much coffee, so when I do, I prefer it to have a lot of taste but not bitter. This unit delivers good flavor, and heats up well in the microwave. Unlike some other cold brewers, this one uses a periodically rotating mesh filter to extract the coffee and recover most of the liquid left in the basket at the end. It is easy to rinse parts that come in contact with the coffee, but when finished, I also run the unit for a few minutes with just water, so a bit more clean-up than standard drip. This process works quite well, but the unit does make a fair amount of whirring noise (not loud, but noticeable). In addition to the coffee basket, there are two additional filters that the coffee flows through when draining into the attractive carafe. As you might expect, this is not a quick process, taking about 30 minutes, depending on the timer setting — fine for the weekend coffee drinker but impractical for the rushed morning commuter. I added a few more scoops than recommended to get more intensity, but a different kind of coffee may be what is needed.

There is no such thing as a perfect system, but this works rather well. You can experiment with the ratio of water to coffee and for me, that’s 8 scoops to 4 cups on the bold setting, for which I need a calibrated eyeball, because the even cups aren’t marked. Check the little filter in the removable basket periodically, because if it’s clogged, you’ll either have a slow or nonexistent drip rate. Otherwise, enjoy your cold coffee!

over been making cold brew for a few years now the old fashion way…water coffee fridge over night….always messy to clean up and so much effort so always made more then i needed… The Cuisinart cold brew makes things so easy….its quick and cleanup is a breeze…BUT.. i have modified the process and i wish they would come out with a second edition… The current model CAN make great cold brew but by following the current directions it makes a reasonable iced coffee more so then a cold brew….the recommended amount of coffee even at max is still not really enough even for the 7 cups of water the machine says is max, and yields truly about 6 cups after water retention from the grinds and even the longest cycle is not enough.. THE FIX.. i now put 18-20 scoops f coffee in and run the machine on the bold cycle with a little more then MAX water, after the cycle is done i allow about a cup of coffee to drain into the carafe, add another cup of fresh water and then run it again on med. after it yields a full 7-8 cups of GREAT cold brew…still only about an hour and 20 minutes for the process and cleanup is a breeze…
