The Cuisinart 12-cup electric percolator has brought back the smooth, rich coffee I remember from 40 years ago— only better. I’ve been using drip coffee makers forever and could never duplicate the taste of my mother’s coffee — even by trying every brand of maker. The Cuisinart percolator is very simple to use AND clean. I put the stem and both parts of the basket in the dishwasher. The pot and top I wash by hand. For those who do not wish to have any sediment in the bottom of their cup, round disk filters are readily available. However, the holes in the percolator basket are microscopic, so not much sediment gets through. My coffee is smooth, strong, and hot— just the way I like it; and, the pot keeps the coffee hot as long as I leave it plugged in, without making the coffee taste burned or old. I usually use excellent brands of Colombian coffee. Additionally, there is something very comforting about that perking sound in the morning and the divine aroma of the coffee as it perks. It takes me back to my childhood. I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase this coffee pot. I highly recommend it.

We returned it.It would not keep the coffee very hot after brewing. It did make great tasting coffee but failed afterwards. We don’t like a second cup tepid.

This coffee maker is so much fun to use and makes a great cup of coffee. It seems very well built and clean up is a breeze. The only improvement that I would like to see is a small wire screen in the spout to filter out coffee grinds. There are currently small holes where the spout connects but they are too large and let out coffee grounds into you cup as you pour. If a small wire screen was installed here also, it would keep coffee grounds out of my cup of coffee when pouring, especially when getting the last few cups.

No real complaints, except I wish they indicated the 4-cup marker as a number instead of a little circle that looks more like a blemish on the inside of the pot. Also, please bring back the 6-cup version.
