Piercing needle is plastic and does not work well on some Kcups. It will tear the top instead of putting a whole in it and grounds go in your coffee and all over the inside of the machine.

We went through three Keurig’s before doing homework and selecting Cuisinart. We really love this coffee maker. It is faster than the Keurigs!!! There is no wait for preheating to occur. My guess is that this coffee maker is more powerful.

I’ve had two of the previous version of this model and they eventually gave out (nothing lasts forever). I replaced the last of those with this revamped version. It looks very nice, is more compact and doesn’t have the heat up time that the previous model needed when you turn it on. Overall I like it but there are a couple design changes that I think need some work. First, the silver flap on top that you pull up on to open for a k-cup feels like a flimsy design that doesn’t seem like it will hold up over time. I guess we’ll see. Then opening the top is more of a physical action whereas the older version was more spring loaded. Just doesn’t feel as nice. Second, I’ve noticed that after brewing a k-cup and opening the top back up there is quite a bit of liquid left on top of the cup and spills over into the machine and continuously drips through the machine. Overall fairly minor annoyances, but could definitely be improved upon.

Really easy to use and great for making hot tea and coffee. My husband and I both have our own inserts and it works great. I drink a lot of tea and love that there is no coffee taste using this brewer. I also use really large mugs and can fill any mug with two cycles selecting the exact amount of water I need. I do wish the water came out a little hotter.
