Not as good as the previous model that included an additional rack to facilitate broiling. But I gave this four stars since the controls and operation are very simple yet adequate, quite inexpensive for what you get, and, importantly for the broil function, the door has a setting enabling you to keep it ajar about an inch.

I was a little disappointed that there is no light IN the oven so I can SEE the process of cooking and whether my food is getting done. . . Either have to put on bright lights or use a flashlight to see what is going on in there. .. But, stay tuned. . . .

I bought this because I am tired of the quartz tube toaster ovens that work very slowly and inconsistently. This unit has the thinner heating element we used to call a cal-rod. So far it works very well. The one thing I have to remember is that for oven, preheating is necessary. Without preheating, the rod gets very hot during the temperature ramp up and might burn the surface of the food. Toasting has been fairly consistent. Haven’t done any broiling yet. It would be really nice if the knobs had a white line on them to indicate where they are pointed. The black raised spot on a black knob isn’t very visible, depending on the room lighting. Let’s see, where’s my white paint!

Lots of options for toasting, baking, broiling. The dials aren’t exact, so it’s difficult to get the toast consistently the right color every time. I’m generally satisfied except for the very annoying alert tone when the toast is done — it is SO LOUD and piercing that I set the toast for darker than needed so that I can turn it off before it goes off. Very jarring. If there’s a fix for this, someone please tell me.
