It takes a while to figure out the right consistency to move through the vertical machine into the shape of a waffle… I’m still trying. Using protein-based mixes like Kodiak have been challenging. Will keep trying but I sort of miss my regular flat waffle maker as it wasn’t so challenging and the consistency didn’t matter.

I used 3 times since the purchase. The first few times were pretty cool. Then the third use I noticed that on the top right side was not closed all the way like the left side. While it was cooking the right side had wider gap, cooking and leaking at the same time which I didn’t noticed it at first 2x. I was skeptical about the vertical standing at first and i was correct.

Its a great machine…my only gripe is that you can’t take the grids off in order to wash them in the sink when you are done. Other than that, it’s fast, neat & tidy in appearance, and very saving of counter or cupboard space.

Does take up less space to store but is difficult to fill neatly and excess batter makes a clump on one side of waffle – not pretty. Seems to cook fone but difficult to clean as it is spring loaded to close so have to use pressure to keep open and clean. I went back to my fill & flip over waffle maker for ease of cleaning.

The upright Waffle Iron is easy to use, but is extremely slow in cooking the waffles. We raised the temperature to the highest number (from 3, to 4, to 5) but it didn’t seem to correct the problem. A higher wattage rating might make all of the difference in the world, but as it now stands, I can only give it a mediocre rating.

It’s great for saving space, but now I can no longer put chocolate chips or banana sliced in my waffles unless I do another step and blend the batter before pouring. Looking back I would have preferred the flat one.
