This was purchased for my sister-in-law, who makes ornate Christmas decorations, to modify some delicate decorative pieces. Needless to say, it over performed for the task.

Works in your bare hand or a hammer. It has nice hardened steel and a point that can be resharpened.

I used on my fireplace lintel. I couldn’t create a dent. The tip bent.

It’s a good solid product. I took off one star because it’s heavy and I’m trying to cut back on the weight of my tool bag. Other than that, the scratch awl is great. The handle is not going to slide like a wooden handle will. Plus, you have plenty of material to work with to keep it sharp.

I have yet to use it, but feel that it should satisfy my needs. It has a tapering shaft ending in a sharp point. For marking a line or making a starter hole for screws it will be very useful.

Works great. Not very many people use scratch awls, but I like to for the simple fact it doesn’t need Inc.
