I’ve only had it for 2 months, but it seems to work fine. I can’t use it right now because my laptop is back at Dell for a screen manufacturing defect. I can write a better DVD drive review after I’ve owned it for 12 months.

It is a great little DVD player. Really easy to install. Just plug it into your laptop and insert the startup disk. In a few minutes you are ready to play movies. Love it.

Hard to believe how inexpensive this player was. I figured it is probably cheap and wont hold up. I have used it extensively to both rip and burn CDs. On several ocassions the player fell from the table onto the floor while ripping and burning. I thought the rip or burn would be ruined as well as damage to the player, but neither ocurred. I was amazed at how resilient this player is.

I was in need of an external reader, as I had purchased tax software in CD/DVD format. I won’t be using this too frequently other than the aforementioned reason and to watch videos I have on DVD. However, it’s worked well and without issue for the minimal times I have used it.
