Glad Dell provides the DVD+RW drive. In research and for personal enjoyment, DVDs are still used by many who are not Luddites! I keep up with change, but with tech companies making DVDs and CDs obsolete is unnecessary and a mistake. There are many who want hard copies of movies, music that streaming makes ephemeral. Thanks Dell and VLC Media Player too!

Good all round drive. I use it to load and unload some software to/from disk. Also good DVD player for those old movies. Simple to use and does exactly what it’s designed to do.

I would have much preferred getting a DVD/Cd drive integrated with the PC desktop console. Since I couldn’t, this was a consolation prize. It is amusing that my new desktop came with an Install disk for Cyberlink, and without this external optical drive, the install disk would have been useless.

The DW316 external CD drive is indeed slim and easy to open. The CD included (which is the driver) has a cover on it that looks like cheap marketing promos. I did not initially load it as I did not want unnecessary programs. Consider labeling the CD as the driver to save unnecessary calls to tech support!

A great DVD+RW drive. Plug it into a USB port and it starts up ready to work. I have been able to create backup disks of files that I need to save. Plus, it reads DVD’s with no problem. Put in a DVD disk and a pop up windows ask what you want to do. Or you can set your preference for what you want this drive to do when a disk is inserted. The drive works seamlessly with Windows Professional and Windows home. I have both OS on my computers and I interchange this drive from one computer to the next.

Simple instruction but… they were not helpful. First, my Wi-Fi apparently was not enough to install the driver program. Secondly, I did not have a printer-UBS cord. I just purchased a new Epson Workforce Pro WF-3820.Thirdly, I attempted to install via Internet. No luck. Lastly, I still do not have my external speakers, ordered at the same time. Dell has been my preferred provided for many years. Certainly not pleased with this latest acquisition!
