Great disk drive. I didn’t think I’d ever need one again, but I selling a lot of old music CDs and I wanted to rip a few to my music library before I got rid of them. This drive seems more than up to the task….just plugged it into my Dell G5 desktop and no issues. The price is right for what I needed – and great Dell quality!

The USB drive is okay but unexceptional. The DVD, however, is useless. It won’t play a single educational CD. I left it in the street so large trucks could run over it. That seemed to be more merciful than returning it so it would be foisted off on another innocent.

So far I am very pleased. The DVD drive works well and I am able to use it to share DVDs with my students via Zoom, which is why I bought it. The DVD drive is very lightweight, so if I were to take it to a classroom, I think I would need a protective box or case to do so. I have not tried to use the RW functions, because I don’t need to do so right now.

The new Dell laptop I purchased did not have a disc drive. This seems to be the norm now. The user of this PC still has a use for a drive. It is a nice unit that was just plug and play. It came with a disc of software that contains useful programs.

This item is difficult to get going. It’s less convenient to have off board accessories when you are mobile. Also, when I went to play a dvd it didn’t start up right away after installation etc. I’m not sport techie and I know that’s part of it.
