   I got this in December and am glad I did because the computer i bought did not have a cd drive in it and i did not know you could get a laptop with out a cd drive.

    Since my new Dell computers don’t have a DVD+RW installed like they always have before, I had to order this. It works great but have to dig it out of the box when I need to use it. Very disappointed with Dell.

    This unit is cheaply made, noisy, and the first disc I tried to load photos on turned into corrupted files and had to discard it. So far it will play DVDs ok.

    I have only had time to install the Dell USB Slim DVD+/-RW Drive – DW316 – SnP & wath a movie for a few min. The sound from the movie was very low even turned up to 100 Usually my XPS’s speakers are loud when set to 100. I was disappointed when I opened it up that it did not fit in the ports. I had asked the Dell sales person if it would fit the ports on my new XPS. He said yes so I purchased the Dell USB Slim DVD+/-RW Drive when I purchased the XPS!

    I bought this device to be able to put programs on my new laptop that lacks a CD drive, and also to be able to burn disks to play in my car and view movies, etc on disk. It works well for there functions
