   Unlike Built In Laptop Drives, this one Needs software installation. The Software comes with the Disc but the drive deceptively half works until you install it. Once the Software is installed there is no issues. There is no options for only installing what you need in the Cyberlink media Suite. It is counter intuitive that you need to install the software because it does not note Drivers For External Drive on the disc. Once the software is installed you can use other programs like media player etc with the drive.

    Plugged it in and immediately used it to install some software on new laptop. It came with a disk, but the instructions didn’t indicate I needed to install that so I didn’t. I haven’t yet used it for the purpose I bought it, i.e. converting DVDs to mpgs. Very lightweight.
