Hardware works great. But the bundled CyberLink Media Suite software was so annoying — a continuous stream of pop-ups trying to get users to pay for software “upgrades” — that I uninstalled it within 15 minutes.

This separate DVD drive offers the ultimate in flexibility should you desire direct integration of software versus downloads. Seamless integration of DVD’s and CD’s.

A commodity item that shouldn’t be an extra. It looks like you are taking the buying a new car approach. There is still a need for reading software and content from CDs and DVDs. It was a negative when I purchased a new Dell All-In-One that this basic drive was not included. I would rather have the capability built in and to make it economical from the Dell perspective, get rid of all the pop ups for buying stuff when you are setting up a new computer. My older Dell at work has built-in capability.

the item was sent without updated software, and a port plug that was not compatible with the xps 15 which I returned. One would think a representative would ensure that all other hardware would be up to date and compatible with the systems they are selling.

I find it incredulous that you include a disk to install with this product that includes invasive adware that autonomously launches some of the most insidious advertising. To completely eliminate it I had to restore to a previous restore point. If this is a partnership to lower the cost you should seriously reconsider. It severely tarnishes your brand and has been included on both DVD players I purchases. This is inexcusable.

Way too cheap and light to be a Dell product. . Must hold it down by hand to load it and press the disc onto the center button. .then manually push the tray back in. . .Way too much grief just to load a cd or dvd. . .

I have a lot of work and special-purpose software on CDs and DVDs. My machine does not have a built-in physical hard drive. This was a low-cost solution to my problem.

I bought this specifically for my laptop but haven’t needed to use this yet. I got a new laptop for work that doesn’t have a have a CD burner so I thought it would be useful. I checked it when I received it, and it works fine, but it doesn’t read Blu-Ray. I think CD Burners will go the way of the floppy.

I purchased this external DVD drive to go along with the Inspiron gaming computer I purchased for my 18 year old son. It works fine on a flat stationary surface, but cannot use in a moving vehicle because slight bumps cause the DVD player to skip and jump.

I have much data stored on DVDs and can easily read this data. I have not tried to write a CD or DVD yet nor have I tried to boot from the drive.

Very light and flexible. Care should be taken when loading and unloading not to put pressure on the top. You could damage it making it nonoperable.

The portable DVD player came as portrayed, is easy to plug in my new Dell All in One, and works well!

Proved to be a needed asset

The accompanying software conflicts with preloaded Dell software and the message stated to delete existing loaded software. The product arrive late. Sitting next to our bookshelf.

Does not always read the disk
