The USB DVD drive is very nice.

While the drive reads DVDs fine, the software is a joke. When you start it, every link goes to a page trying to get you to upgrade. It isn’t worth installing; it’s nothing but a sales pitch.
Terrell Predovic (verified owner) –
This is a recent purchase and is not that efficient with respect to cleaning up temp files.
Emie Friesen (verified owner) –
Works great, as expected.

The Dell USB DVD+RW drive – DW316 has performed very well. It is very responsive. I have purchased other DVD+RW drives in the past. However the DW316 definitely outperforms them, by far.

Just what I needed. Very easy to use, enabled me to upload cherished old photos from a CD to the cloud

You get what you pay for. Very cheap construction. I needed to check some old CDs. Reads fine with lots of device noises. I have not tried writing.

It seems super cheaply made. It is really slow. I’m disappointed.

First and Foremost – You cannot beat the price ! Having a portable DVD +/- RW drive is an excellent use of portable technologies. Whether being that a open source bootable dvd/cd by way of linux is your cup of tee or even more so, for recovery purposes, this plug and play device is quick, minute start up time, is perfect. For entertainment, etc – the quick usb cable allows almost any device (TV, notepad anything that does not have the ability or place for such peripheral) a fast under 30 seconds of load up to have your media presented. I definitely recommend this for price and technology.

So far I have been very happy with the drive
