   I recently bought a new laptop computer replacing a 12 year old Dell laptop. I was forced to purchase this external CD drive because the laptop didn’t come with one. It works great, however I then had to purchase a USB hub because the CD drive occupied 1 of 2 USB ports and my wireless mouse used the other one. Additionally the CD drive needed to plug into an electrical outlet instead of drawing power through the laptop. All this takes up more space in an already cramped work area.

   Works. Reasonably priced. A great add-on to laptops that don’t have a drive installed (which is virtually all of them) if you still need a drive occasionally.

   The CD/DVD drawer is somewhat flimsy. The disk has to be lock in place and that’s when I notice that is feels like it might break.

   Dell came through like a champ in replacing a defective CD burner. The door opener did not work on the first one & Dell replaced it with no objection or hassle. Thank you!

    Should have got it in my desktop. You can laugh but I am having trouble putting in the DVD. I am worried that it might break since everything is plastic. Is there some way you would suggest as being the best way to insert the DVD?

    Easy to use, plug&play. The only negative is the provided connecting cable is standard USB at the computer end and requires an adapter to use with most current laptops that have only USB C ports. Very minor issue.
