This is an excellent external drive for those who do not have an internal one. It works perfectly and was immediately recognized by my Dell Inspiron Desktop as well as my Dell laptop. If left connected it is identified as a system DVD drive in the hardware section of your PC. Great purchase.

After ordering 3 external hard drives to burn music CDs which didn’t work and I returned, I finally ordered this one DIRECTLY from Dell. Fortunately, Cyberlink software was shipped with it because Windows Media Player no longer works after its last major update. Once I figured out the software (download the user manual), it was easy to rip and burn CDs. This is also a DVD/Music CD-ROM player, you can copy DVDs and data CDs.
