Very convenient for carrying around. Works very well on USB port power which does not get overheated while the optical drive is working. I love the plug and play feature.

I am surprised Dell even sells this product. I have had 2 dell laptops (one I currently still use) with no issues but the DVD+/-RW Drive did not work. It turned on with green light showing, I could load the disc in the device. The DVD you could hear turning…then the green light went off and nothing happened. It was not plug and play as described.

Ease of hook-up, installation not requiring a disc, compactness are all positives. Works best with VLC Media player. Only criticism I have is that the unit should be weighted, as it is so light as to be an aggravation at times. Otherwise, a good, solid little player . . .

The DVD drive is not as sturdy as I had hoped. The first one failed immediately (the tray would not open after inserting the set up disc). Dell was great with a quick replacement that seems to be working fine. I wish it was a bit more substantial. I fear it won’t last long.
