Impressive unit. Especially like the quick-acting micro-adjustable sliding depth stops. It’s not impossible that this unit could be used as a pin router. Could use a faster top spindle speed. Laser “cross hair” is somewhat flimsy and hard to accurately calibrate. Needs illumination from both sides. (Easy enough to add, I suppose.)

Easy to assemble, it took approximately 45 minutes by myself; a friend to help lift head unit would have been nice. The quality appears to be as good as any and it feels as heavy duty as it looks. I have drilled through some steel and hard wood with ease and accuracy (w/Besemeyer fence).

Probably the best drill press available for non commercial use at this price point. Assembly was very easy and I was able to get the drill press together in about an hour without any help. The dual axis tilting table is a really nice feature as is the replaceable block of wood beneath the chuck. The lasers are a useful addition to the press. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the press, particularly since it’s made in China. Like any drill or drill press, using properly sharpened quality bits, a good cutting fluid, the correct rpm and the right amount of pressure for the material being drilled will produce excellent results while increasing the longevity of the drill/press and drill bits. I commonly need to put holes in steel plate ranging from 1/8″ to 1/2″ in thickness and this press has no problem doing this over and over again. So far I couldn’t be happier with the press and feel that my $1,000 was very well spent.

Haven’t used it much yet but this drill press was very well packaged, easy to assemble – with clear instructions and high quality hardware. The instructions say to use two people to mount the head, and that’s probably good advice. I was alone so used an overhead crane to be safe. Its not that heavy but you need to lift it pretty high and it’s unstable. All appear to be quality components. There are quite a few plastic pieces but none that are critical. The table tilting mechanisms (in both directions) are nicely built and precise in their angle readings. User-friendly belt change/speed mechanism. So far this product is exactly what it was advertised as. Good purchase.

The Delta 18″ lazer drill press is one fantastic addition to any workshop. Easy assembly, well built with solid capabilties for any project. Home Depot beat all internet prices, and had free delivery to any store location for customer pickup. Just plain hard to beat . . . .

Outstanding piece of machinery. Runs quiet and smooth. Easy to set up, all parts fit well. I’d give it perfect rating but for some shortcomings with the table. The upper groove of the parallel t-slots was milled at 9mm, just shy of fitting a 3/8″ bolt for my hold down clamps, but more play than I like for 5/16″ hardware. I took the table to a machine shop and had the upper grooves milled to 10mm. The hex head of a 3/8″ bolt is a perfect fit in the bottom grove, so no special t-nuts are needed. It’s so much more versatile now. Also changed the chuck out to a keyless version with half the run out as the Delta chuck. It’s really the best drill press I’ve ever seen.

I bought this drill press principally because it is the most highest rated across the internet, and a neighbor endorsed it too. It was easy to set up and has worked reliably for the short time I’ve owned it. There;s not much to adjust once set up. I have found changing the speeds to be a simple process. The more I change the speeds (by rearranging the belts on the motor pulleys) the more proficient and faster I become. The drill has more than enough power. I have made a number of a large Forstner bit holes at the recommended low speed without the slightest difficulty. The bit hardly even create any smoke due to the proper speed and power applied. If you’re looking to upgrade from a bench top model (Like I was), this is the way to go.

This Delta drill press is very versatile. The chuck is true and straight. The features that stands out the most is the ease to change the RPM’s for different materials and the laser a quick setup on the material. I have a the drill press for about a year. A very great investment.

This is a very nice Drill press. I was boxed well no damage. Came on a pallet fork lifted it right in the back of my truck. Went to together very easy. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good drill press.

Great product. Replaced my older delta that was wrecked in a fire. Does everything a woodworker could possibly want to do with plenty of power for large bits, rosette cutters, forstner bits, even circle cutters. It is very easy to adjust and use when compared to other brands. I would suggest getting the fence when you order the drill press. This press also is very usable for metal-working too.

Overall the press is a solid build. The laser guide is useless. Per the instructions I’ve attempted to adjust. Adjustment is limited. Can not get perpendicular to work or a pin point mark for hole. Not critical for me. I can do without. The rest of drill is excellent. I was going to go with Jet. Glad i picked Delta.

Excellent machine. You need at least 2 better with 3 to lift this beast.

I’d like to say that it exceeds my expectations, but from the reviews, I knew what to look forward to! Well built and designed. Nothing flimsy or shortcuts on quality. Straight forward instructions and included allen wrenches to assemble. When my friends with banana republic tools come over, they’ll know I stepped to the plate…no excuses needed.

used a cross vise and mortise and tenon jig to make some small chairs for the grandkids. Looking forward using it for other projects.

Good quality build and easy to assemble. Lasers needed adjustments which was easy to do

Have only been able to set it up and turn it on. Looks to be a great unit. The table on it looks light compared to my previous drill press which was smaller. Shipping was excellent with them calling ahead to set up a time to deliver. I put it together myself to the point of the head which is much to heavy to lift and install by yourself. I bought a set of casters for a platform rated for more than this weight. That said to use a 3/4 In. plywood for the platform. With this unit, that looks light to me as when I move the unit, the plywood will deflect enough to cause the bolts for the caster brackets to scrape on the floor. Laser guidance is a super feature as well as the LED light.

The drill arrives in a large styrofoam cube to protect the drill. 260 pounds.Delta recommends it be mounted on a 3/4″ plywood board 29×24 for stability. I used 1/2″ grade 8 bolts 3 1/2″ long with 2 boards since I countersunk the bolt heads with fender washers on the floor side.Fit and finish is exc. Mounting the head should take 2 folks or you can mount the head with the unit on the floor then lift to vertical. Still very heavy.Assembly is simple. Although they include metric allen wrenches, I found long allen wrench sockets handy for tight places. You’ll need a 10mm socket or wrench for the nut on the speed adjustment lever.I mounted the drill press on a HTC HD mobile base. The base works well, but assembly is slow.

This is one serious piece of equipment! Well-built and heavy-duty, it is even more than I expected. The work light and laser target are very handy. Assembly was very straightforward, but it should be noted that this is a very heavy piece of equipment that requires two people for part of the assembly process.
