This is worth the extra money. I have had 2 Delta drill presses in their past that were lost to floods. I’m on higher ground now and spent the extra money and glad I did.

This drill press was found on line, had all of the features we desired…ie, large motor, variable speeds, larger table, and large stroke. In addition, we found the light and lazer guide as a bonus. The free shipping to the nearest store was helpful, and the email updates useful in knowing arrival date.

Drill press came very well packaged. Assembly was fairly straight forward. Instructions easy to follow. Head is heavy and requires two people to lift. I have had no issues with the machine. My chuck only had a tiny bit of run out – only 2 1000ths. Very good for woodworking. Nice table. Very stable.

Very easy to assemble, had it running in 45 minutes from opening the box. No issues with the parts or condition. Some surface rust on a few of the parts, but came off easily. Needed help getting the head onto the post, rest of it was easy to assemble.

The set up was easy. Table is perfectly mitered to the bit. Used it and runs perfect so far.

I had a hard time getting this unit as the freight company lost the shipment so it was 2 weeks late. The drill looks and feels like quality and so far is doing a good job. It did come with one problem is that the LED light does not work. I called Delta and they gave me the name of their local service tech. Bill Wilson was very prompt in fact he came to my shop the same day i called. He determined that the connection on the Led lamp was cut probably do to a poor a poor crimp at the factory. I have been what for him to return to due the repair but he said he will be he this week.Over all I am pleased with the machine but will be very happy when the light is fixed

Good drill press. Did a lot of research and shopped around for a good heavy duty shop drill. I need a drill press that will work for both wood and metal and not take up a lot of floor space. This one will run at low enough speed to work for metal as well as wood and has a small footprint. The two axis tilt table, laser sight and bright LED light put it over the top on my list of choices. Drill showed up at my home depot store packaged very well with no shipping cost. It comes in a big box that measures 30 in. wide by 59 in. tall by 13 in. deep and weighs 260 lbs. I was able to wrestle it into my pickup, but I would recommend bringing a friend to help. It comes disassembled into its four main components. Base, vertical tube, motor with drill head assembly and the tilting drill plate. Everything went together easily and fit very well. Setup was pretty easy. However the drill head and motor are heavy. You may want the help of a friend to lift it onto the shaft if you assemble it in the standing up position. It even came with all the tools needed for assembly and adjustment. Instructions were clear and included plenty of pictures. I have no regrets with my choice or purchase. Home Depot had the best price I could find.

Assembly instructions were clear, parts were easily identified and everything fit together perfectly. While most steps can be readily accomplished single-handedly, lifting the head and placing it on the floor column is more than a one person job. If you’ll be moving the drill press around the shop follow the advice shown in the manual. I’d recommend using two pieces of 3/4″ plywood instead of just one.Quill runout was 0.003 in. which is fine for woodworking. Speed changes are easy and relatively quick. The LED lamp is quite bright but it only illuminates a small area of the table. Laser alignment guides speed in positioning work pieces as desired under the drill chuck.

as a novice woodworker, I may not be qualified to review this drill press: did allot of research prior to the purchase, read the reviews and found the Delta overall the best value for the dollar; Rock solid, easy to put together (very little to do actually) two people are really needed to do this, three would make it a snap.Laser is nice but I have not used it, settings are easy to adjust and achieve different speeds for different materials. Made the mistake of getting some cheap bits to try out the drill press, they are now scribes. Everything is centered, very quiet, easy to adjust settings on height and depth of hole. Very happy with it (the build in light is great)

This drill press was easy to assemble, arrived sooner than expected and without any issues. This 18 inch Delta drill press is well made ,heavy duty and has pleanty of power to tackle the heaviest of work loads. It is a quality looking piece of machinery that complements my shop and i am certain it will last me many years of service.

Very easy to assemble, really like the way the table tilts plus the light is awesome. I didn’t know how bad my eyes really were until I started using the light. This drill press is for a middle/high school and the students love it! We are using the press for a manufacturing and construction projects in our classroom. We have had the press for about two months and it is everything we had hoped for in a drill press.

Very functional for the average home or light commercial shop. Had to re set the motor fan on first use. The plastic fan blades are significantly out of square due to a very thin walled design and were hitting the motor frame. Speed changing is straight forward as well as easy. The table height adjuster could use a longer locking arm for more leverage. Over all I’m very satisfied with the Drill Press. In two weeks I can’t think of a day it did not get used for wood, composite or metal.
