The Delta 22-555 Portable Thickness Planer is great for professional results in the woodworker’s shop. It features two polyurethane feed rollers for a no-slip grip on the work piece; positioned close to the cutter head to improve work piece finish. The machine also has precision machined steel cutter head for endurance and accuracy with a stainless steel bed that reduces friction and improves motor efficiency.

Planer works well, but has some snipe that I cannot get rid of by adjusting the infeed and outfeed tables. I assume that the snipe is caused by the headstock tilting when the board is only on one of the rollers. I solved this by running an 8 inch piece before and after my work piece.

Didn’t seem to have enough power, to smoothly plain down the hardwood that I have. It probably has something to do with the fact that it has 2 blades instead of 3. Plan to step up to a Rigid, 3 blade planer. Had one before, and it was great.

This is a good working planer. A great value for the price. Worked great right out of the box, no adjustments needed. I have only used for small stuff so far but a couple different types of wood. Mainly soft stuff and a piece of Purple Heart.

Very pleased with the product but not so much with Delta’s customer service! Unit arrived with missing parts. When I contacted Delta with the model and serial number they refused to help me unless I produced copies of my online order and receipts. Because the table I ordered for the unit did not fit my model. It required the boring of additional holes and the purchase of additional hardware to mount the unit along with additional hardware to replace what was missing in the shipment. I doubt very highly that I will purchase any more equipment from them! Their website doesn’t even allow me to register my product with them. I suppose I’ll have to call them to register the product!

I had to send the first one back because after unpacking the unit and firing it up, the belt gaurd went flying. And I couldn’t get it to work. I had to take it back to Home Depot. I ordered another one and the second one stayed in place. Sooo cold in Altoona PA I haven’t worked with it much yet.

I purchased this planer originally just for cleaning up rough lumber I get locally for free. However, I love it so much I have incorporated into nearly all of my builds. I never realized what i was missing not having a planer. I used to build everything around the dimensions of the lumber, now I can make the lumber what I want it to be! The size and price were my biggest factors for purchasing the Delta. Minor assembly was really fast and easy, I was using it in no time. I recommend using dust collection as planing creates a lot of mess. I definitely recommend the Delta planer and look forward to trying other tools of the same brand.
