Powerful and easy to use, the Delta 12-1/2 in. Midi-Lathe Variable Speed Wood Lathe has a 1 HP motor with 1725 RPM and electronic variable speed to tackle a wide range of applications with ease. The patented belt tensioning system allows easy and quick speed changes and sets the belt at the correct tension for maximum power transfer and longer tool life. For fluting and other decorative applications, the indexing pin locks the head stock spindle in 24 different locations and with forward and reverse functioning, you get the superior finish your job demands. Extremely durable and stable with cast-iron construction, this heavy-duty lathe will provide years of reliable and accurate use.

Well packaged, easy to assemble, head and tail stock line up perfectly. The belt is easy to change on the pulleys. My only concern is that the plastic levers for tightening the quill, the tool rest and the banjo will hold up over time. Substantial little machine with no chatter or vibrations. Very impressed with my new lathe. I love the reversible mode. Ordered on a Wednesday and received it on Sunday, and that during the Christmas rush.

Bought this Lathe through Home Depot due to the weight and Delta service issues in online reviews, as I did not want to deal with banged up shipping issues. Home Depot did not disappoint. Box was in near perfect condition! Carefully unpacked and checked things out. All Looked good. After a few months of using I can give a good review. Machine is tough, heavy and has reverse. 12.5″ swing. 16″ between centers. Optional bed extension sold separately. Custom built a table for this baby and turning many things since. Like other reviewers have said, switch is backwards. I just used a magic marker to relabel them, nbd. Three different Pulley speed options, self adjusting tension on belt.Came with the basics, spur drive and face plate with live center and knockout bar. No regrets on my purchase Of this Delta Lathe through Home Depot. BTW, it was on sale!

Great starter lathe. Not quite big enough for the larger bowl projects but anything 12 inches or less does a good job. Variable speed is a very nice feature. Overall a pretty good little lathe.

Great tool! Powerful, smooth, quiet, stable. I’ve only just begun to use it but so far the quality of this lathe is superb. My only complaint is the forward-reverse switch was set opposite what it should be, but that’s a minor issue as it doesn’t affect the actual turning. I would’ve given it 4.5 stars.

It has a very powerful motor so you rarely have stalls while turning. Also a nice feature is the reverse, which a lot of people say they don’t use but I have used it on everyone of my projects so far and it makes the finish so much better! I was skeptical at first about buying this lathe because of what I had heard about Delta’s C.S., I haven’t had to deal with them yet and hopefully don’t have to. So far though I am VERY happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this lathe.

The lathe arrived in a timely manner and was in good shape. Packaged well. Set up was quick and easy. This is a big improvement over my previous lathe from Harbor Freight. The only reason I’ve given this lathe 4 stars is because the Fwd/Rev switch was wired backwards.Though it was an easy enough thing for me to fix, I resent the fact that this company thinks quality assurance is the customers job. It’s not my job to correct the factory’s mistakes. Otherwise, I haven’t had this product long enough to give a good review of it.

The lathe arrived on time at my local Home Depot and I had assistance in loading into my van. I was able to unpack and set up that afternoon. Alignment was perfect and the lathe ran smoothly. The direction switch was reversed, so I just re-labeled the switch directions-no problem. The lathe works fine for my small bowls, tea light bases and french rolling pins.
