I purchased this for a very old (1950’s I believe) Delta Unisaw. Due to the dimension of the saw base I had to mount a 1/2″ piece of plywood to the top of the roller base.This unit is solidly made compared to the alternatives. However, the part of the lift mechanism that you push with your foot to lower the castor for moving was not formed into enough of a “U” to keep from opening/deforming slightly under pressure when lifting. This caused it to partially slip off/over the castor bracket instead of pushing down on it and lifting completely. I had to bend this part into more of a “U” to fix the problem.

If you have an older Unisaw with the cast iron base, this isn’t for you… but for the rest of us, it fits like a glove. I was going to make a mobile base, but by the time you purchase the materials, casters, figure out a way to make a lifting caster bracket and then spend the time to weld and paint one… you probably will wind up spending more money, time and aggravation and wind up with something that isn’t as nice. It’s built rock solid, fits many other machines besides the Unisaw, and HD has the best price around. Free home delivery and arrived sooner than estimated just made it even better.

Bought same base 20 years ago for my 14″ band saw, rolls around shop easly.fits my 6″ jointer perfectly. Can now get jointer out in middle of shop to joint long boards.Boxed in the base with some strips of wood to keep jointer centered on base. Thank you Delta, would highly recommend this for any shop.

There are several variations of mobile bases for machinery. The Delta bases are some of the most robust and practical ones out there. Specifically, they have a small footprint, the single foot pedal is convenient and once lowered the machine is stable. If you can find a Delta base to fit your machine, I would recommend them.
