I used this indoors on the dryer duct close to the outside vent. It keeps more cold air out, a noticeable difference. It also prevents any animals from getting in. The outside dryer flapper never does close well no matter how clean I attempt to keep it. I just have to remember to open and close the blast gate when the dryer is in use.

It works after some work on it. When it arrived I had to use a lot of force to open and shut the plastic gate. I sanded the edges smooth and the surface of the sliding gate also to make the push/pull work using 2 fingers. Do this before installing it in the duct work. Otherwise you will be putting undue pressure on the duct work while opening and closing the gates. One of the blast gates (out of 3) already is showing signs of trouble (after 1 week). It does not close properly due to saw dust in the gate channel which is hard to remove.

I was quite disappointed that this piece did not fit the standard fittings on a Delta dust collector, since it is actually made for Delta. It appears to only fit in-between two 4″ collector hoses. Therefore, I had to make some modifications. First, I am in agreement with other reviewers that the gate pieces are just glued together and can separate – I drilled a small hole in each corner (being sure not to drill through the slide) and installed a small screw and nut – the Blast Gate still opens and closes easily. Next, I found that a piece of 4″ ABS drainpipe was a really close fit over the Blast Gate and one end of the “Y” fitting hose adapter on my Delta dust collector. I cut a 3 3/4″ piece of the ABS pipe, cleaned up the cut edge and used ABS cement to glue it onto the Blast Gate, making sure that I sealed the edge of the Blast Gate inside the ABS pipe with a small brush and ABS cement (also making sure no cement got on the slide part of the Blast Gate and that it moves smoothly). Doesn’t really matter which side you glue the ABS coupler onto, but I chose to glue it so the the “pull handle” on the slide faced down. Then I coated the “Y” fitting fairly heavily with ABS cement, as well as the 4″ ABS pipe used as a coupler. I aligned the Blast Gate on the “Y” so that when the “Y” was placed on the dust collector I could easily access and be able open and close the gate easily. I then set the piece aside to dry vertically so that the end of the “Y” which connected to the dust collector pointed down and the Blast Gate was higher, so that no ABS cement could possibly drip down into the Blast Gate. Later, I did the same procedure to the other side of the “Y” fitting so that I could connect two hoses to different equipment and be able to easily shut off one piece of equipment at a time from dust collection. With these minor modifications which took me about 1/2 hour, this Blast Gate works perfectly and seals air flow very well. With the modifications I made, I would now rate the 4″ Plastic Blast Gate Dust Collector Accessory an inexpensive 5-Star.

Good blast gates, I seperated them and used the pieces to be able to attach the flexible hoses.

This dust port worked great for my application, I created a chip collection trap for my DeWalt planer using a Brute 22gal Trash can and this Delta 4in Dust port. And it is solid not flimsy at all, and I can close it when not in use. I have a attached a photo to show my application.

When open, the crack fills with sawdust and won’t close all the way.

This is a great value product. Although it is glued together and it might split a part, there is easy and no expensive way to keep it usable (4 screws on each corner of the gate to keep whole assembly together). This is much cheaper version than one sold by HF or Menards, especially if buying larger quantities.Delivery was fast and before estimate. Customer’s service was amazing, fast and friendly.Thank you Home Depot for great service.

The hoses attached to it just as they should. My only complaint is that they are not perfectly air tight, which I was expecting after reading other reviews. However, I did NOT notice a decline in the performance of my Dust Collector as result, so I am content.I may upgrade to something better in the future. But i am happy with the purchase right now.

I looked for blast gates and sent back 3 that didn’t leak smoke to inside from my Glowforge. This one worked perfect.

Seems to be a very sturdy blast gate. Although I read some reviews that some had split apart, I have had no trouble so far. If they happen to come apart it will be a simple matter to put a couple of screws in the corners since there is plenty of room. Would I buy them again? Definitely.
