One word: Magnificent. Even if you read no further, that sums up everything you want to know about this teapot. Made by a British company called Denby, this teapot displays all the quality for which the company is known. First, it’s stoneware, which makes it much more durable than other types of pottery or earthenware. The glaze is an ivory color that will blend well with any set of dishes or mugs you plan to use for dinner or tea. The rest of the benefits come from the design choices Denby made. The opening is wide enough to make cleaning exceptionally easy. I have another teapot that holds a few ounces more, but the opening is so narrow it’s difficult to fit my hand in there to wipe down the sides. The spout provides an exceptionally smooth pour, even when you tip the pot enough to have a fast cascade (see the two pics to see the flow of the water during a standard and fast pour). The chevon pattern on the side is not so deep that the glaze there takes on a gummy look, nor is it deep enough to make cleaning the exterior more difficult. The lid fits well, and it’s really a pleasure to settle the top after fixing your tea. The two slight drawbacks are:The ring on the bottom was not given a final glaze. That means it’s rough, and care should be taken not to place the pot on surfaces that might scratch. Since a heat pad or other padding is usually used with a teapot, it shouldn’t be a huge issue. The pot does not come with a strainer that fits the opening. I had to revert to filling my own teabags to use this pot, so it won’t be the one that I use every single time I make tea. But I do make tea several times a day, and this one will be used at least one of those times when I want only prebagged teas. I think this would also be a lovely way to serve a huge pot of homemade hot chocolate at the holidays, African coffee (brewed with ginger and cardamom) after a dinner party, or warmed sake for sushi night.

Replaced an old teapot and not disappointed. Cleans well and pours well. Lovely shape and colour.

Very classic looking teapot. Love the quality of Denby-always a fine product. The perfectly round shape holds about 2+ large mugfuls of beverage and it pours nicely. Some teapots drip but this one seems to have absolutely no spillage! The color and detailing are very classy and elegant. Perfect for everyday as well as that special occasion. Currently I’m using it as a centerpiece for the holidays and it looks fantastic. Couldn’t be more pleased with it!
