I ordered this as a Christmas present for my husband. He loved the radio/charger. It had more features than he had expected. He works in new home construction. Sometimes power sources are hard to find. This gives him the ability to listen to the radio while charging his batteries. Also his favorite feature is being able to plug other tools into his radio. Overall more than he expected!

I bought 1 for work mainly for the built in charger and the radio is great. I plugged in the DeWalt and it sounded much better than the Sony boombox I was listening to, and that was that. The extra power outlets came in handy and eliminated the extension cords on my toolbox. I bought a second one for my home shop. When you get DeWalt, you get quality.

Awesome unit!!! Tried the Ryobi first because my cordless equipment is all Ryobi , and I didn’t want to have to buy different batteries. The Ryobi radio didn’t work out of the box. This unit has great sound, is easy to use, and works well. The ONLY downfall is the price of the unit and the battery.

I’ve read a lot of reviews of people having sound quality issues. Does this radio stand up to my klipsch entertainment system, of course not…its a job site radio. This thing is built tough. I love the 3 outlets on the side which help me out a lot because my garage has limited plug access. The battery charger is outstanding and charges batteries really quickly. Last feature I really like is the auxiliary plug so I can hook up my phone and stream pandora when wanted. The only thing I would like to see is some sort of protective compartment to keep dust debris from getting at my phone when hooked up to the radio, but at the end of the day that is small potatoes. Excellent radio with lots of extras for the price that I use on nearly a daily basis.

My Wife bought me this radio for Christmas. Over the last year or so I have bought several DeWalt tools, including Hammer Drill, Impact Driver and Oscillating tool, all of which use the 20V Max Li-ion batteries, unfortunately my wife didn’t realize this Radio/Charger doesn’t charge them :-(. Having read reviews for the DeWalt DC015 (the Radio/Charger that DOES charge 20V) it seems that THIS Radio is actually the better sounding of the Two. I have a 14.4V DeWalt Hammerdrill lying around, and I’m using the batteries from that in this Radio so I can use it should I lose electrical power at Home or Jobsite/Campsite or wherever. I also bought the little DeWalt Bluetooth Adapter so I can play tracks from my phone via the Aux input, which is much better than having to leave my phone attached to the Radio. The phone can play/skip/pause tracks and control the volume remotely :-). This radio is very loud and keeps pretty good sound quality at loud volumes. Was recently taking down the Christmas lights around the exterior of my home and could clearly hear music playing on the radio in my garage around the other side of the house ! (Used my phone to turn it down before I annoyed the neighbors lol)

I called DeWalt about the difference between the DC012 radio and the DC012-CL. There is NO difference between the two radios except that on the California CEC compliant radio (DC012-CL), you cannot charge a battery and play the radio at the same time. (See follow up below, they may be the same radio). There is a switch that allows you to play the radio OR charge a battery, but not both. According to the California CEC, it is not an efficient use of power to do both at the same time. I would NOT advise you to buy the California CEC compliant model (DC012-CL) as it is a lot more expensive and has limited functionality. You could buy the DC012 (which is a great radio per the reviews and the reason I gave it 5 stars), pay at least $40.00 less and not use it as a charger while you are playing the radio, and be CEC compliant. Yours truly will be returning the DC012-CL radio he bought and get one of the non-charging DeWalt radios or see if I can figure a way to buy the DC012.A little follow up: I ordered a DC012 from another company and they shipped me a DC012-CL as labelled on the outside of the box. On the radio itself, it was labelled as DC012. (There was NO DC012-CL label on the radio). This happened to another reviewer too. You can charge a battery and play the radio at the same time. I have a strong feeling the DC012-CL and the DC012 are the same radio. I would not pay a higher price for the DC012-CL radio. Find the company that has the best price for the DC012 and order it. If you live in California, the box will likely be labelled as a DC012-CL but it will contain a DC012 radio.

I purchased this for my significant other and he absolutely loves it!!! The rugged construction style, ability to charge battery while listening to the radio and the multiple ports to connect various audio devices, all while remaining compact, is very desirable. I highly recommend this product and am very interested in purchasing other DEWALT products. I am sold on DEWALT!!! Do you offer coupons?
