This drill is a BEAST!!!! I am an Electrician by trade and this drill by far out performs all AC and DC powered joust drills on the market! Loads of TORQUE, well balanced, and best of all NO CORD! Test drilled 20 18″x 1″ holes into fresh pine stump on single charge with ease! Once again Dewalt delivers another game changing tool!

Dewalt flexvolt tool line is going to set new standards for heavy duty tools. This stud and joist drill has some weigh, but not heavy, just a good solid feel which it needs to do a good job without fighting the tool to do the job. this drill has the power to please most all plumbers and electricians. This drill can hurt you just like a corded drill.

The drilling power behind this drill is incredible. You get the drill, the battery, the charger and a handy carrying case too. It is part of the DeWalt Max battery line so the battery is magically able to be used between any of the Max battery tools. I prefer that type of system and technology. It can power through 6 inches of wood or 1/2 inch of steel and everything in between. I did have to hold on tightly to it as I drilled a 5/8 inch hole through 4 4×4 pressure treated post but it went through quickly. The battery should be fully charged before you use it as it doesn’t come fully charged. The battery has the power to drill though up to 138 holes in 2 1/2 inch wood….that’s a lot of power! The charger is also smart enough to know if the battery is either too hot or too cold and automatically switches to a special charging mode till the battery reaches the right temperature and then goes into a normal charge rate. That also extends the life of the batteries. It is a professional heavy duty tool weighing in over 21 lbs., built solid and strong for on the job toughness.I liked the handy LED light and the location of the controls for speed, it has 2 speeds, forward and reverse and the trigger control are all located in convenient positions. The Bail handle and removable side handle (either side) make controlling the drill easy and safe. Also make for accurate positioning and drilling. It also has what is called an “E-Clutch” which controls the torque should the drill bit start to “bite” into the material. It slips giving off a clicking noise as well as a visual indicator light that the “E-Clutch” is engaged. Releasing the trigger resets it. That feature also makes controlling all that power more manageable and safe too.It has a 1/2 inch chuck and key so it can accept hundreds of different types of bits.DeWalt has thought the design of this tool out very carefully and very efficiently. It is a professional, powerful tool built to last and built to perform

I bought this after debating for a while and I’m so glad I did. 1 6ah battery did 3 bed rooms, 2 baths, and a hallway with no problem, as I’m an electrician. as you’re using one battery, another one can be charging and be done by the time you need it again. I recommend 3 batteries if you’re wanting to stay drilling all day if need be. or buy the 9ah batteries. which I will be if they go on sale for 199 for 2 again so keep an eye out for that also. if you’re debating like I did and you have some extra money, do it. I bought a 2-9/16 self feeding bit and the clutch never kicked in when I was in 1st gear, when right through the stud for our 2 jnch pipe. the clutch is truly a wrist saver. it kicks it when you really need it do and maybe will do it once or twice when you don’t really need it to through your day. hope I have helped your decision.oh and i, at times bring everything on the ground with me with a corded drill when it’s dragging through the house, no more of that. it’s nice

My guys been bugging me to get a cordless “hole hawg”. I didn’t want them to lose or break it. Not cheap. Long story short, I love this thing. For electricians , 2500 sq ft area (condo’s) 1-1/2 units on one battery. I would get a second one if I had a bigger crew. Hmm, maybe one for the van

As a plumber everyday we drill holes. From 7/8 to 6″. This drill is great for jobs where electric isnt available yet or limited outlets. 1 full chargered battery goes all day depending on how many holes. Although for the price. You can buy the milwakee super hog(corded) and a set of self feeder bits. I will say my wilwakee does has alot more power though. And fits alot better in tighter spaces such as in between ceiling bays and wall studs . The dewalt is much wider and the placement of the trigger often puts my hand in danger of stamming against the beam.

This drill is a monster! Tons of torque. Because of our specific use, we needed a drill that doesn’t have a anti-kick feature built in.

I can use this drill all day doing a remodel project. I can work all over the house. Not attached to a cord is great. I will be purchasing them for all my electricians.

This is an unbelievable powerful impact tool. The tool runs off of Dewalt’s 20Volt Max battery. (not included) The 20V battery offers unmatched power to this tool. The tool is extremely durable and can supposedly handle a six foot drop. Although I am very careful on placing these tools on the ground when I am done, this tool has very nice bumpers on both sides and both the top and bottom of the tool. I think the tool is a touch on the heavy side, but most tools with this level of power are usually a touch heavier. I do think that the overall feel is that the tool is extremely solid and well built. The tool has a built in LED which is awesome! Having a bright small light on the tool works out great when working in the garage or away from other light sources! I would definitely recommend!!

As an electrician, I drill a lot when I’m roughing in a house or wood framed structure. This drill is the best purchase I have made in a long time. It does exactly what it says it will do.

Totally satisfied the drill is a workhorse working commercial plumbing and drooling a lot of holes Inconvenience of not dragging a cord behind just makes the whole thing worth it

Great drill, I have had it for a week now and have drill 60 holes with it and just changed the first battery. Being a plumber I have drilled holes from 1” to 4-3/4” and handled them all just fine. The electric brake is also nice and keeps the drill from getting away from you. Has the same power as my Milwaukee hole hawg but without the cord I love it
