I’m a female DIYer with small hands. Atomic compact grip is smaller fit that still gives full performance without fatiguing my hand. Using the thinner 20V 2.0 amp hour battery is sufficient to drive this drill for most small projects & minimizes weight. This smaller tool fits in tight, confined spaces. I do have trouble changing tool bits because the collar is too tight for me to loosen by hand. This is not preferred but holding the collar & a quick power blip counterclockwise loosens the chuck to release the bit. Overall happy with Atomic series tools.

i really like this drill because it’s small and lightweight, gets into cramped spaces, but it delivers power. i have a flexvolt battery with it and it kicks butt. although the chuck is made from high impact plastic, it feels solid. the tool has a good hand feel and grip is excellent. classic dewalt quality. finished my entire kitchen cabinet revonation project without breaking a sweat. used it to drill the hinge holes, installing the handles, installing hinges and the switch plates for the backsplash. never encountered a problem. i only wish the battery was a little lighter because with it attached, the entire things gets little heavy after a while, but that’s mainly the weight of the battery, not the drill. for around the house DIY projects, this tool is perfect.

I have an older Dewalt 1/2″ cordless drill – 12 volt – which served me well. I have purchased at least two additional new batteries for it over the years, but as I have invested in the new 20 volt, I felt it time to update the drill, too. And I am very glad I did.This new ATOMIC 20 volt MAX is amazing. Lightweight, wonderful balance in my hands and all the power that I need. I was a little surprised at the LED placement near the battery, and not directly in line with the drill bit, as I have seen many times before on other drills. I am not sure I like it more or less, buy it does work fine. Using the drill in dark cabinets, the LED is bright and provides the illumination required.The compact size does not seem to mean reduced power. I would expect that the DeWalt specs for this drill, to be about the same as many of their others drills. The chuck collar is a black plastic – or some poly-something – but it seems durable, and although it does not “click” into place with a hard stop, it is easy to hit the the number on the torque scale that you want. The two speed transmission switch on top is the same. It’s a nice action to change from “1” to “2”.The bottom line? For me, I am very impressed with the power and the small size. Coming from my old drill, this is an amazing tool. In fact, I can see tools becoming smaller in size as battery performance allows for more energy into a battery back, and as better plastics allow for stronger cases with less weight. If you get a chance to put this drill into your hands, you will understand the sizing. It just feels right. Like an extension of your hand. Yeah, I know. We have all heard that before, but there is really something to this DeWalt ATOMIC line. I intend to look at this line for my next tool. I actually purchased two of these drills at the time. One for my son, who just moved into his first house and one for me, to replace my old drill. My son spend some time looking at sales and when he told me what the price was at Home Depot, I was off to pick them up. I would actually suggest, that even at the regular selling price, this drill represents an excellent purchase. Couple in the DeWalt warranty and the return policy, this is a great deal on a wonderful drill.

Purchased because my DeWalt hammer twist drill had too much wobble and wasn’t suitable for precision work. Sadly, this drill although is much improved , still has more wobble than I’d like. I saw a test on youtube of many different drills for wobble and DeWalts came out as the worse in this regard. I love my DeWalt cordless tools but I wish they could make a better drill with less wobble.

I love this drill. I am making a nursery for my baby and I am a single mother . Putting up built in shelves to a wall and dresser to wall is a snap. this drill has handled everything I put to it.I went from using other drills to loving this one. So easy to use and switch.
