The DCD797 Cordless Compact Hammer Drill with Tool Connect is based on the latest DEWALT (R) XR (R) Brushless Compact Hammer Drill (DCD796) with additional integrated Bluetooth (R) technology. Connect to the Tool Connect free mobile app and Inventory Manager web-based software to track, manage and customize the tool. With Bluetooth integrated into the tool, you do not need a Tool Connect battery to utilize tracking functionality. The Tool Connect 3-part inventory management solution includes the app and Inventory Manager web-based software that work together to help you better communicate updates from the field to the office. You will get updates regarding the whereabouts of tools, materials and equipment, meaning your assets are tracked during the day and accountability is placed on appropriate crew members. Use Tool Connect and trade; tools along with Tool Connect batteries, the Connector and the Tag for a complete inventory management solution.

I own several Dewalt drills and drivers. This model has a few more options than my other 20v tools. It has Bluetooth and has the LAST SEEN feature that provides the street address where it was last in range. Another feature allows you to disable the tool when its out of range. The chuck is metal compared to most of my other tools that are plastic. It has (3) custom settings that allow you to set the RPM’s and the brightness and delay of the LED light. I had a chance to use this drill to build a small wall that will be used for training at our fire house and it was a joy to use. There is a noticeable improvement from my already awesome 20v tools I purchased last year.

The Dewalt 20 Volt Max XR With Tool Connect Brushless Hammer Drill/Driver with Batteries and Charger is quite an upgrade from my other Dewalt screw gun. First thing you notice is that the collet is made of metal and not plastic. The second thing is that the drill/driver is brushless so none of that smell you get with brushes. The 20 volt batteries do last a long time and the fact that you get 2 lets you work longer! Another nice feature for a contractor is tool connect, that lets you track your tools using an app that you can download on your phone. You can also set max rpm on this tool using the app. The driver fits nice in your hand and will be my go to tool from now on.

Bought my drill just less than 2yrs ago. Been a great drill until 1 day used it in hammer mode and now its stuck in hammer mode no matter where you set to. Dewalt is sending a label for it to be shipped to a service center to be checked and repaired or replaced I suppose. I have really liked this drill. Hope all ends well

Love Dewalt. My ONLY criticism of this drill is when the clutch is set at to low end of the torque scale (between 1-5 let’s say) and at the drill at high speed, the trigger release brake often stops the chuck so hard that it will loosen and release my bit! Higher torque settings brake more gracefully. Quite bizarre.

I bought this drill a little over 2 years ago befor I started college. In that 2 years between job sites at school and summer work, its been worked real hard, droped dozens of times, been rained on and so on, and the drill still works just like new. I’ve used this drill from rough framing to boring holes in the cabinet shop and if I could do it again I would buy this drill. takes a beating, isn’t too heavy, plenty of power and the battery is the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve had this hammer drill for just about a month. I’m not a construction worker who uses this every day, but I’m a facility manager who uses is occasionally. I didn’t want the regular drill/driver, because I do need to occasionally drill into concrete. I needed the hammer drill. I looked online, and also went into the store to look at them in person. I advise you to know what you want, because there are a few models of Dewalt hammer drill. I saw some that had a plastic chuck collar, and just looked and felt cheaper. I saw this one with the metal chuck collar. It’s a much more solid tool, and even feels more solid in your hand. Sure, it’s a little heavier, but if you’re using the hammer drill function, that’s what you want. After all, if you didn’t need a hammer drill, you would just get a regular drill/driver. I wouldn’t trust that plastic chuck collar to hold up well in the hammer function, which is why I specifically got this model with metal chuck. It took some more work to find this one and order it, but it was worth it. I’ve used it to drill concrete, and for regular drilling. If you’re working overhead, yeah it’s a bit heavy, but I’ll take that trade-off to have a solid tool that will last. One last word; I didn’t think I would need the Tool Connect feature, but I do manage two different properties, and it has come in handy to be able to track the tool.

Another great product from DEWALT. This hammer drill/ driver kit comes with two batteries, a charger and a nice carrying bag to keep everything together. It has a tool connect that connects to an app on your I phone. It tells you the amount of charge left on battery, the temperature and if it is out of your range. This is so you know if it has been removed from work area. It is lighted so that you can see what you’re drilling. This is a very nice set.

Perfect drill! and strong enough to do any job..the one issues I had was the Bluetooth not functioning the way it suppose. Only connect once and then disappear completely from the app and wouldn’t connect agai.. so I had to return and I’m giving another with waiting for a another drill.. I hope I don’t have to same issues again.
