My Dewalt 20-Volt Max XR hammer drill works flawlessly. The 5 Ah battery provides adequate run-time for multiple uses, including hammer-drilling old concrete, while adding limited weight. I used to think I liked the hard-case better but recently have grown to like the soft-side bags where you can bag drill, driver, extra batteries, charger, and drill bits/drivers to have all needed tools in one location. I would have gotten the bag had the shipper not lost my package causing me to receive a substitute case.

I am two limbs higher than a shade-tree mechanic. A lot of my tools were acquired about 50 years ago when my folks gave me a Craftsman tool box for Christmas after I got my first car. I still have that tool kit although over the years I have acquired new tools and have lost others. I confess my tool kit is a mess and I would have to spent extra time searching for the correct metric socket among the SAE ones. My wife came to my rescue this year and for my birthday bought me this Dewalt 142 piece tool set where everything has a secure place. She knows I have a preference for Dewalt in power tools and that I have a lot of trust in the brand. Now it is simply open the tool kit, select the right tool from it’s place, use it … and remember to put it back in “it’s place.” That Dewalt’s tools have a lifetime warranty is a real plus.

The drill is strong and comfortable and I like the fact that the kit comes with two 5Ah batteries. The case is unfortunately not nearly as nice as the one with my previous DeWalt 20V Hammer Drill. If this drill would fit in the old case, I certainly would have used the old case with this drill, but alas, it does not. Aside from the disappointment with the case, it was a good purchase.
