This DeWalt 20-volt max lithium ion cordless and brushless 1/2 inch hammer drill/driver with flex volt advantage is the tool only box. It doesn’t come with the battery or charger but it is a great compliment to your existing 20-volt tool set. The hammer drill has three speed settings, forward and reverse and clutch control. It comes with a removable handle as well as a belt clip. It also has an LED light control to help you see what you are working on.

Wow! I am super happy with this drill! I am upgrading from my older DCD995 which was a powerful drill already at 650Watts. This one is 860W with a regular 20V battery. That already compares to a 120V corded drill. 1200+ Watts with a 60V battery is significantly beyond that! It’s definitely a prudent decision to use the drill handle in that mode of operation. The clutch works well whenever bit you are using jams (hole saws usually) – it reacts pretty much instantly. I made the mistake of using this to try and level my trailer. In that case it didn’t sense a jam and basically tore itself out of my hands. I’m pretty strong so that really surprised me (and yes, that did hurt) and gave me deep instant respect for the power this thing has. i was also very pleased to see that the chuck is the same great carbide chuck as my DCD995. I noticed also another reviewer mentioned the forward/lock/reverse button didn’t work that well (would not lock out in Center position) but the one I have works great. I have had that problem though with a few other dewalt tools I’ve had over the years – the slider skips past the center position. But this one has real definite clicks and is easy to confidently lock. I

It was a gift for someone else, so I don’t know how it operates. But it arrived extremely fast and the recipient of the gift seems pleased.

The DEWALT 20-Volt MAX Lithium Ion Cordless Brushless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill/Driver with FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE (Tool Only) is a beasty thing. It arrived well packaged and in excellent shape. It has a surprisingly long and easily removeable brace handle. One very needed feature, is the LED light, it has three settings, low, medium and bright that will stay on for 20 minutes. I don’t know how many times that I have been crawlspaces long enough that my battery went dead on my flood-it light. Should that happen again, at least I will be able to see to get back out. Power wise, there are no complaints with 3 speed settings, 11 torque settings and it arrived just in time, my other hammer drill/driver is on it’s last legs, getting worn out Good job guys, keep it up.

I needed to drill a 2-1/2 inch hole through a 4 x 6 in order to run electric conduit from underground up into my shed I’m building. I drilled the hole before I built the shed. I have several brands of hammer drills and none of them had the power to bore through the wood with the bit I was using. You can see the bit in one of the photos. It has three different speeds, I used it on the low speed and on Hammer and had no problem boring right through it. I do recommend using the side handle that comes with it. Several little things about this Model I like, the built-in light that has three different modes, one is very bright, the three speeds, the belt clip which is a plus for me because a lot of times I just hang it from the back of my tool belt when I’m up on a ladder. Also the flex volt system is nice, I have several tools that use this battery so that’s why I bought it without a battery. It has a great bit grip system, you tighten it up by hand and then turn it approximately a quarter of a turn, you can feel it a lock onto the bit once that happens.

What a great tool. This Dewalt Hammer Drill/Driver can pretty much drill through anything. Very much a work horse tool. It has more power w/Flexvolt batteries and is also compatible w/Dewalt 20 V MAX, heavy duty 1/2″ ratcheting nitro carburized all metal chuck w/carbide inserts for superior bit gripping strength. The Led mode is 20 times brighter and gives more light in dark and confined spaces. The extended worktime with LED spotlight mode has a 20 sec. shut off for the extra time needed. This optimize tool has a 3 speed transmission and 11 torque settings. One thing I might add is this tool is very heavy so when first using play with the 3 speeds so you don’t loose control of the drill. Another great product from Dewalt.

DeWALT DCD999 FlexVolt Advantage 1/2” Hammerdrill / Drill DriverSimply put…this is without question a powerhouse of a drill. With the ability to run any 20 volt battery alone, this is quite an animal. Now, with the flexibility to run 60 volt and 20 volt, both battery platform investments are now one. If you are invested in both platforms, efficiencies are born when you can grab a 20 volt battery perform 90% of the work on a given job, grab a 60 volt for those truly demanding applications and FlexVolt Advantage was born. I enjoy construction work and what makes it truly enjoyable for me are great tools. Until now when it came to drills before it was my DCD996. I’m proud to now hold my new drill, the DCD999. With an 1-1/8” Forstner bit and all of my weight, I could not stall the electric motor. With a 2” hole saw again I couldn’t stall it. The drill is smooth and the 3-speed transmission is quite handy. I’m glad DeWALT carried over the LED light design from the previous generation. The stability handle is longer than before and understandably, now I know why. The DCD999 is the new King in my shop!

This thing is a beast, it’s has a lot of tourque and power, it’s not as powerful as the 998 but it’s up there. The power range is in-between the 996 and 998, drilling in masonry is a breeze and using paddle bits and drill bits is buttery smooth. When it comes to size it’s pretty much the same height and length as both the 998 and the 996. The weight on this is a little heavy but it’s understandable because it uses a lot of metal parts, coming from using a brushed plastic drill which was way lighter. Overall it’s a really solid drill, but we’ll see how it holds up over the months, will update if anything changes.

This Dewalt 20V Max Brushless Hammer drill/driver is an absolute beast. I have the full compliment of Dewalt tools and this is an amazing addition to your arsenal. Have used it so far for typical drilling projects and it works comparable to my 996. I used it to drill some holes in some tree stumps and it appears to have some extra “juice” compared to the 996, but I really need a get a FLEXVOLT battery to put it to the test. Overall you won’t be disappointed, the quality is great. The side handle is great for certain projects and the light comes in handy when you need that extra bit of light to accurately complete a project.

Great run time. Quality you expect. A bit pricey. Seems large compared to the impact driver. Brushless is the way to go. A full battery use and my wrist isnt sore like with previous cordless drills.

I decided on this drill to use in times I can not get any power to use the standard corded drill. I needed to use the 5ah battery to get enough power to get through treated lumber and brick. I liked the ergonomic fit in my hand, it was comfortable while drilling through the material. I would have preferred a locking chuck over a hand tighten chuck.

This hammer drill is just what we needed for some basement cinder block drilling for some planned renovations. Hopefully you’ve read the contents, and know that you need to purchase the battery and charger separately, unless you happen to already own one of the compatible battery types. We have quite a few tools running off of the 20v Max battery, and this adds to our collection. As always, this DeWalt tool is sturdy and heavy-duty. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect tool for any DIY household. My dad actually had this drill and I was tired of borrowing it from him. This Dewalt 20-volt hammer drill makes drilling into our brick and concrete home a breeze. We used this to hang shutters on our brick home, much much easier than my traditional drill. It’s the small things, I love the flashlight settings. The drill is not very heavy even with the battery. The arm makes it easy to apply pressure while drilling. Many different settings for every job imaginable. Dewalt is the gold standard in tools and I’m glad I picked up this drill. I was able to use my 20-volt battery from other Dewalt tools.
