Description
The 20-Volt MAX XR Angle Grinder features a brake, E-Clutch System, and Kickback Brake. The brake quickly brings the wheel to a stop in two seconds or less when the trigger is released. The E-Clutch System automatically shuts down the motor when a wheel pinch in detected. These two features working together to shut the tool down without user interaction, called the Kickback Brake. Additionally, the grinder features a One-Touch Guard, which allows for single-action adjustments to change guard position.

I got it to dig myself out of a nasty access hole where I couldn’t get mains power – hanging 30 feet down, and off the facade of a building, removing some very shaky old metal work. Now I don’t think more than a couple of days have passed before I’ve used the convenience of cordless power to clean or cut something. Highly recommended – with a big battery pack. It needs some serious juice.

I needed to drill holes to run wiring in my new addition. As a petite female, I was looking for an alternative to the cordless Dewalt drill that my husband uses which basically takes a lot of strength to drill the holes and not have the drill ripped out of your hand. All of our cordless tools are Dewalt, so I obviously looked to Dewalt for a solution. This tool is awesome. First, though it is heavy, it is ergonomically designed so the weight is evenly distributed. Second, it is easy to hold and to drill the holes, even in tight spaces. One thing which is an added bonus – the flexvolt batteries. I probably would never have bought the batteries but now that we own them, we can’t live without them. They last forever in the smaller drills and cordless tools and provide enough power to easily drill through three two by fours! I drilled the electrical holes in my new addition which included a bedroom, new bathroom, dining room and laundry room on one battery. Awesome tool – highly recommended.

This is my second 20V Max grinder. I own the DCG412B as well. This one is longer, but I find that it is at last easier to hold, and better balanced. My favorite part is that it has a “soft” brake when you let off the paddle. It spins the wheel down gently, yet quite quickly. The gearing that provides the angle transmission seem to mesh better than the gears in my other tool. This one is smoother and quieter. Clearly this one has more power and spins faster as well. I haven’t burned through a whole battery in one go yet, so I can’t comment on runtime just yet, but it obviously isn’t worse than my other tool. And of course I expect it to be better because, XR.

Powerful. Long run time on battery. Very convenient adjustment of guard for different positions. Excellent process to replace grinding disc. Heavy but side handle is very helpful. It’s big around so big hands are needed or use with side handle too.

I’ve owned a lot of angle grinders and this cuts a things like butter. I use it in multiple surfaces and it performs in all of them. I would recommend the bigger 20v batteries for this one since it uses the regular ones up quickly. The safety features on it are awesome love the kickback brake.
