Have used the yellow and black brand for work and DIY ever since the Matco guy never returned with my fried Makita over thirty years ago.Never had a need for a rotary hammer drill. Until a couple of years ago had to drill four holes in some concrete. Remember I almost destroyed one of my $200 Dewalt drills for that project. That is when I decided to pickup the DCD996 drill/driver/hammer. Had to drill two four inch deep 5/16 holes in some stucco covered cinderblock gate posts. To be honest was pretty unimpressed with the hammer function of the DCD996. It did the job but really seemed to work the 996 to the max.Just last week I had a project coming up where I was going to have to drill several 7/32 holes into some of my steel encased solid concrete gate posts. Yeah, when we had the compound wall built we had them poor concrete into the posts. Pretty solid. The last thing I wanted to do is destroy my 350$ 996 doing this.I picked up the Dewalt Rotary hammer. I knew it would better suited for this job. Holy moly was that an understatement. We are talking seconds vs minutes that this thing punched those holes!!!!Really had my heart set on returning it thinking $300 for a specific tool to do one thing a “little” better. NOPE this thing rocked it out. Looking forward to the next job that entails drilling and concrete.Several people have posted that ANY rotary hammer will beat a hammer drill. Boy was that an understatement.

The roto-hammer worked as well as corded units that I normally use. I was not expecting it to perform so well. I figured that I would need the 60V model to get this much performance. I would highly recommend this product for occasional light and medium use.

Powerful enough to tackle big commercial construction jobs. OSHA HEPA vacuum attachment can be made.

Compact, Seems to have more power than other 20v dewalt SDS drills. Runs a 4 inch coring bit like a champ!

Works amazing, much better then the standard 20v xrp hammer drill, a lot quieter and faster without having to put all your body weight against the drill to have it function

I bought this wen I left my last Job and wanted a SDS to go with my never ending tool collection 20 and counting including Flex.. Like the hanging clip Good hand positioning or Ergonomics. All batteries fit it. Works right up theyre W bosch corded of similar size.. A lil pricey less than 293 the latest model I want no part of the BT stuff..

I was going to rent a power hole digger (jack hammer) yesterday because it took me over an hour to get one hole bug using a hand post hole hole digger, chisels, and digging by hand. I had 10 holes total to do! In Texas we have cliche and rock. I purchased this tool and was able to dig a hole in 3 min, I love Dewalt tools! It is all I purchase!

Very powerful rotary hammer drill. Compared it to a similar model Makita and the Dewalt was by far a more powerful hammer drill. Used it all day making hundreds of holes in concrete and the 4 Ah battery was still more than half filled. Not the lightest hammer drill of this size, but it isn’t that bad to use with one arm overhead. Haven’t had the chance to use it as a chipping gun, but I’m pretty sure it would work well as that too. Over all great tool and price is good.

I use this to drill 1/2″ holes 14″ into the frozen ground so that I can place my real estate signs by myself. This drill makes it easy and it is so compact that it fits into my kit.

Runs smoothly but gives the results of a larger jackhammer

Really great tool but for havin used it only for short periods at a time and maybe once a week and sometimes even longer than that,it failed no chipping while trying to remove ceramic tile and tried putting in some anchors in concrete same thing happened will rotate but won’t hammer.sadest thing is I’m a dewalt guy and my coworkers had a good laugh at me and my rotary hammer
