So this nail gun is a great tool and I love it! The one caveat is that you need to test the unit you buy. I’ve had this gun for quite a few years but it took me three guns to get one that works. What I mean is that they all worked but my first two could not drive a 3″ nail into a standard stud. So trying to put them into an LVL was terrible. My third one and the one I currently use was much more powerful, so I think QC may have been just poor. The Paslode framing nail guns I have used in the past were great for power, but difficult to always get them to fire, I hate having to reseat the nail gun to fire, especially when toenailing. The Dewalt does this much less and I don’t have to buy fuel cartridges, and no smell. I also like the fact that the Dewalt comes with the soft nose piece for siding, works great! Very seldom jamming and easy to clear when it does. It is heavy but doesn’t feel any heavier than the Paslode, and feels well balanced. One complaint is the rafter hook is quite large, I would love to have a belt hook to hang it on my nail pouch or belt as I work, the rafter hook works for this but is too large, but works great to hang on a truss when available.

I must admit I was worried about the jamming reviews. I bought the Paslode nails like some of you recommended. I had maybe 60 nails jam out of 4000. I’d bet half of them hit other nails. This thing is fast and easy to use.

Touchy with larger nails and you have to make sure it’s totally straight or it gets jammed
