The DCP580B features a brushless motor for maximum efficiency The DCP580B features a brushless motor for maximum efficiency that helps to maintain speed under load. The brushless planer features a 3-1/4 in. width capacity and ability to adjust depth at 1/256 in. adjustments with a rebate capacity of 5/64 in. The planer weighs 6.8 lbs. and operates on the DEWALT 20V MAX* battery system. Lightweight and cordless, the planer can be easily transported around the jobsite without the hassle of a cord. The DCP580 is sold as a bare tool.

It is so smooth. So easy to operate and it’s strong. Great grip. Great feel. Just make sure your workpiece and the planer are exactly flush the whole time. Oops. One door now has a rounded corner.

I bought this planer about 6 months ago and have loved it! I find myself using it more than I had anticipated, this thing will CUT! Have been remodeling a house and have been shaving doors for new floors and was blown away by how well it preformed!

Just bought this planer. I had to plane some 3-1/2″ red oak and this planer worked super great! I used the DCB208 battery that came with my DCG415 5″ grinder. No sign of discharging the battery just kept on working. I ordered (2) DCB206 to use with this planer. I used this planer inside, and very little chips fell on the floor. I have a DeWalt HEPA/RRP DWV012 wet/dry vac. that I used to connect to the planer. The hose that came with the vac. connects to the planer with no adapters. This is a great tool to have in the shop.

Bought this almost a week ago. Don’t know how i ever worked without it. Had install 6 new doors with continuous hinges into old frames set up for full mortise hinges. Needless to the doors didn’t fit width wise do to the extra width added by using the continuous hinges. I had discussed this with the project manager months ago but, she insisted it would work because that’s what it showed on the print. We all know how nice things look on paper. Anyway having this tool cut my work time down 7 fold. I removed exactly the right amount of material from the hinge side and was easily able to hold the factory bevel. This tool has more than enough power and is very easy to handle. I love the fact i can take this anywhere abd not have to worry about a cord to plug in. So far only cons is the dust collection bag has to be bought separate, and is not cheap and dewalt why does this beauty of a precision tool not come with a hard case??

So glad I bought this planner. I read a lot of reviews and was worried the battery would be an issue. It is not. The battery last long enough for what I use it for. Love it. It is simple and easy to use. I used the guide and that was good. Love it.
