The DCP580B features a brushless motor for maximum efficiency The DCP580B features a brushless motor for maximum efficiency that helps to maintain speed under load. The brushless planer features a 3-1/4 in. width capacity and ability to adjust depth at 1/256 in. adjustments with a rebate capacity of 5/64 in. The planer weighs 6.8 lbs. and operates on the DEWALT 20V MAX* battery system. Lightweight and cordless, the planer can be easily transported around the jobsite without the hassle of a cord. The DCP580 is sold as a bare tool.

I have a lot of 20v Dewalt tools. When it came time to trim some doors the wife insisted on this was a no brainer purchase. My only disappointment was the chamfer feature With it set on zero depth it still cut a too wide chamfer. That needs reviewed or add the smaller grooves as seen on other dewalt planers. OH, and you will want to use this outside. It throws some serious quantity of chips. It did not come with a simple chip bag which I think is an oversight by the bean counters. A bag won’t catch all the chips but it should cut the mess by 90% if working in doors.

I bought this tool about a month ago since its come in handy putting doors in that were a tad to big it has decent run time of course slap a flex volt battery and it helps greatly only issue is it does not come with a dust bag or deflector I was able to find it on dewalt service .net kinda sucks that it has to bought separately with dewalt upping their game in the dust extraction area you would think it would be included but none the less deffenttly a great cordless planer

I purchased this while installing hardwood floors and replacement doors for a second floor remodel. Like the other DeWALT tools I own, the planer is quick and easy to use with adjustments for blade depth easy to make. Battery power was not an issue and the single battery used in the planer was near full power after fitting nine new doors to the existing door frames.

Have always been afraid to even try power planer. Took a chance and very glad I did. Had some boards that needed planing on one side. A thickness planer was way over the top for the job but this tool worked out great. As with any power tool common sense is a must.

The tool itself is great but for the price it was only the tool. No charger , battery , dust bag , bag to put tool in ,or the attachment to attach the dust bag. Even went to the customer service to order the dust bag and they couldn’t find it. Had to go to the dewalt store . Too much time running around looking for the accessories to the tool.

I have had this tool for almost a year now. It runs great with plenty of power and run time on it’s brushless motor, but the only thing keeping it at an average rating, for me, is the fact that the blades are hard to align (impossible for me). I purchased the tool new and used it on some smaller stock, but recently I have been working wider stock that will not fit through my stationary planer and discovered the blades were out of alignment. I tried using the plastic alignment tool and that didn’t correct the issue. The only way to align the blades is to completely disassemble the cutter-head. I would recommend if you are planing thinner stock, but if you are looking to planer larger pieces you might want to hold onto that receipt until you’ve tested out. I would also recommend a 5-6 amp hour battery as well.

I ish the blad was slightly wider. If it was as wide as a door hinge it would be perfect for notching.. plenty of power!!
