Just received this the other day. Due to a lot of sloppy weather I have only been able to use it around the house, I cant wait to take it to the farm !! We had some Azalea’s that were totally out of whack, only took a few minutes to get those bad boys rounded off and looking great !! The adjustable blade comes in real handy also. I wandered over to my neighbors house and leveled off his hedges too !! Used it for about 20 minutes total and battery still had a charge. Our farm has a lot of out of control bushes and hedges and I can’t wait to use it there. Comes with battery and charger which makes this a great buy at about 200 dollars. So now I have an extra 20V battery to go with my 20V drill, vacuum, and air compressor. Just another great product from DeWalt. I will add to this after I get back from the farm !!

I was excited to take this out of the box. We’ve been in the house two years now and I have been neglecting my evergreen screen. The bushes are too tall to reach from the ground and to be honest I’m getting older and the thought of struggling with a ladder and hand held hedge trimmers is what keeps me from cleaning these things up. This is the tool for the job! I am able to reach the tops and shape theses into something I am proud of. Sure its a bit heavy to hold over your head all day so I did the tops for a few then the lower branches. The battery lasted as long as I did. The quality is what you expect from DeWALT. I look forward to finishing the clean up/shaping of these abrovites. I’m also planning to use these at my hunting cabin, not only to reclaim the area around the cabin but these are going to be the ticket in making and maintaining the trails. Have no complaints about the pole hedge trimmer. The quality is there, I work construction and use many different tools from all manufactures and can quickly tell how good or bad the quality is and these are well made so if you’re a professional landscaper you should put these in your trucks. Less maintenance, no gas to mix, less noise, it’s a win win. The battery is good and of course I can just grab one of my others battery’s to keep going. This tool is going to make my yard maintenance so much easier!!!

I have a regular corded one and I thought it was great but I had to sharpen it often and I cut the cord two times because it’s always getting in the way but now I don’t have to worry about the cord with this cordless Dewalt pole hedge trimmer. I was amazed with the way it cuts the bushes, it cuts much faster and easier and i don’t have to get a ladder anymore because it’s long enough to trim the top of my taller bushes with the bendable head. And now all I have to do is put a battery on and it’s ready to go all around the house and since I own several Dewalt tools I don’t have to worry about having a charged battery. Thanks Dewalt, you did it again.

For me the pole hedge trimmers are the perfect tool for trimming and I have no hedges. I planned on using these trimmers to keep my honeysuckles at bay but discovered a better application with trimming my sticker bush problem. The trimmers extend the perfect distance to get the the base of each plant without getting pricked by thorns. The adjustable head allows for perfect level cutting with the ground level. Adjusting the cutting is simple and easy to do as your terrain and target changes. The trimmer’s power and razor sharp blade cut through all the stalks without fail. This task is a struggle for some of the most powerful string trimmers. With all the power this tool has I thought I would be changing batteries a lot or upgrading to the 60v 9ah but this was not the case. I was tired of cutting long before the battery was even half gone. This tool with the 20v 5ah will go the distance. Using the shoulder strap will drastically increase the usability of the trimmer. I would absolutely recommend this purchase.

After tiring of constant extension cord issues and limited reach of a traditional hedge trimmer, I chose give this 20v product a try. Having a property with 6&8’ hedges the use of a ladder was the norm. Not anymore. The DeWalt pole trimmer delivers ease of use and a wide variety of battery sizes as well. Decent enough power to trim most areas with ease. The indexing head is great for overhead areas and well as below shrubs and tree growth. I was able to run mine on and off for about an hour and the 5Ah included battery was still above 75% capacity. Cut capacity is approximately 1/2” inch max without having to make a second pass. I would say my only issue with the unit was it can be a bit top heavy with the motor being mounted towards the working end, but that was only in some positions and could be specific to my body positioning. I have included some images of the collapsed tool to show its portability as well as some of the work I was able to do . I’m impressed so far with the overall build quality and the hand guard is great for a gloved hand.

This 20V MAX Pole Hedge Trimmer is a fantastic complement to the “standard” DCHT820 Hedge Trimmer that I already own. I have about a dozen 8-10′ tall landscape plants that used to require moving a ladder around as well as placing boards on the ground so that the ladder legs don’t sink when trimming with a “non-pole” trimmer. Now I can simply walk around and trim by simply standing next to the plants! (My trimming time is now cut by at least 70% as a result.)As for the DCPH820 Pole Hedge Trimmer specifically, the build quality is the typically very high level I associate with my other Dewalt 20V MAX & FlexVolt tools. The unit has plenty of power, and interestingly, the 1″ max cutting gap in the blade assembly is larger than that of the standard Dewalt 20V trimmer. (‘non-pole”) The unit is well balanced and easy to manuever during trimming. I’m not sure why the decision was made to use a non-brushless motor (all of our other Dewalt tools are exclusively brushless) in this device, but suspect it had something to do with weight and/or the long distance between the battery and motor. Either way, it works great as is. The only minor issue I had with my unit is that once the two halves of the pole trimmer are assembled, the handle is not exactly 90 degrees vs the trimming blade (estimated 15 degrees off) as I would expect, and I haven’t been able to find a way to adjust this as of yet. Perhaps this is a result of early manufactured units on introduction? In summary, I’d highly recommend this product to anyone with high-reach trimming needs, as it will save you a lot of time and difficultly with placing/moving ladders in short order. Bravo Dewalt for this time-saving product!

Pole hedge trimmer is a great idea / product – often the hedges get taller and always need a ladder to reach the back of the hedge. I found the trimmer worked as expected from Dewalt quality. Couple issues I found:1. The unit itself is fairly heavy, not an issue for me, but more so the shoulder strap tie in point really needs to be adjustable – found the strap only used when carrying, did not help when actually cutting. 2. The pole itself is a fixed length, would be great if it could telescope at say just three more feet. 3. The trimmer pivot point is a bit loose, head unit wobbles a bit. Battery life great, used for like 30 minutes and only dropped one bar.

I have been using this hedge trimmer for about a month and it has been very impressive. I own a small electrical company and have to repair and change out the electrical service entering the home a lot of times. A lot of times tree branches will hang over the utility lines and slowly push them down and off the home. Since the power companies won’t trim them i have never been able to safely trim them until i used the DeWalt Pole Hedge Trimmer. It will honestly cut through an 1 1/4” limb but I would not recommend doing this. Overall I couldn’t be happier with this trimmer and would highly recommend it for homeowners and professionals.
