Precisely control blade speed up to 3,200 SPM with the variable speed trigger and dial, for professional results no matter what you’re cutting. 4-position orbital action lets you adjust for optimal cutting of a variety of materials. A bright LED light illuminates dim work surfaces and makes it easy to follow cut lines. The updated all-metal, lever-action keyless blade clamp is designed for quick and easy blade changes of t-shank jig saw blades. Also keyless, the shoe bevel is easy to adjust with detents at 0, 15, 30, and a positive stop at 45. A removable shoe cover helps protect materials from scratches, and an integrated dust blower helps remove dust and debris from your line of sight as you cut.

can’t imagine how i managed with a corded model for so long. paired with a 3 or 4 ah battery its very light and nimble. love that you can set is upside down on the table. would like to see a on/off button that you can feel easily, you have to search for the button because you normally hold the router at the base. love the soft start, last router i had you always felt a kick which can be bit terrifying. love the adjustment system and the base can also be removed very quickly compared to what is was used to. base is a bit thick but i don’t mind. love the clear, half square plate. ps. my old router was a makita model. now i have to go buy accesoires

I have a corded compact router and after buying one it was my go to router for mortising door hinges and doing round overs on things like table tops or porch hand rails. But after a while dragging the extension cord over your shoulder on a 12 foot piece of wood gets inconvenient and causes starts and stops burning the wood. I saw this router and it was part of a promotional kit with batteries, a charger and a bag and I jumped on it. Not having a cord on a tool like this makes it truly versatile. If you look at online videos comparing cordless trim routers the Dewalt always comes out close to or at the top of the list for power, amount of material it can cut per amp hour, plate size for stability and ergonomics in adjustability. Also, the plunge base that fits Dewalts corded compact router WILL work with this, and it’s next on my list. If you aren’t invested in another battery platform I’d go for this guy in a heartbeat.

First, the best part: Cordless. It’s a dream to not have to worry about a power cord getting in the way. It is pricey vice a corded router, but the convenience of being able to take this wherever I need it is great. That being said, have spare batteries or the bigger 6AH ones. This can only be used with 1/4″ chucks, vice the bigger routers which accept both. I would recommend this router if you have the need for a cordless router, but a corded router is much cheaper.Pros:- The weight is nice, even with a 6AH batters, feels balanced- Adjustable speed control- LED lights- Great for various types of work that require a smaller router- Feels well madeCons: – Speed dial is easy to turn and could change speeds just by accidentally hitting it when routing.- The latch doesn’t always shut securely. This may be due to the fact that there’s an adjusting hex screw.- Changing the bit isn’t quick or easy to get to.
