Had this saw a couple of weeks doing light finish work and so far it has proven to be precise and efficient. I recommend a battery of at least 3 AH or larger to run this saw because I found that a 1 AH battery did not have the power to spin the blade as fast while cutting molding. I imagine cutting 2x4s or larger with a 1 AH battery will not fair well for this saw and make for a frustrating work day. I never exhausted a 3 AH battery in an 8 hour day will cutting moulding, they were light days though. The simple fact that I no longer need to bring out a large generator and several 100 feet of cable to power a job site makes the conversion to cordless tools a smart choice. A small generator is all that is needed now to recharge batteries. Typically all the charging is done back at the shop overnight. I have yet to put this saw through a long day of nonstop cutting so not sure how it will hold up under those circumstances but so far I am very please with another well made Dewalt product.

I own a remodeling company for last 20 years. About 3 years ago, maybe 4 now??? I bought this saw because it was on sale and I thought it would do what we needed for 80% of projects. I have the MONSTER, as my crews call it, a double bevel, 12″ Dewalt mitre and they wont even bring out of the job trailer unless we have larger crown or something of larger side cutting. This saw is so portable, half the weight of the MONSTER and will cut up to a 2×6 without thinking about it(which is 90% of what we need it for). Put a 5 amp battery on it and good for all day unless you are using it a lot. I see the reviews are SPOT ON, just a great tool for contractors or DIY!Did I say that it uses the same blade size as our worm drives use!!!

This saw cuts everything I need as a condo owner with a small workshop need. I was amazed with the speed and depth of cut, the slide and angle cuts are great. It wont cut 4×4’s but it will everything else I need. Highly recommended for a small workshop with no power outlets !

Great tool! Perfect for small spaces like my NYC studio size apartment. I needed a quality miter saw to build my own custom canvas panels, canvas stretchers and frames for my artwork. The cost for custom canvases with the size I paint on is an average of $300-$500 per canvas and panel. It is worth it! However, my budget could not support it and DIY was the only way to get the quality I want and at a fraction of the cost, considering all I needed was to buy the wood, glue and screws. The way of a professional artist/painter. The larger miter saws are great but the footprint takes up a lot of space in my small apartment and I’m not able to have a dedicated space for a miter saw. I needed a solution where I can use and store the tool. Now, with this Dewalt compact and cordless miter saw. I’m able to mount the miter saw with the Dewalt Compact Miter Saw Stand and dismantle it and store it my small, studio apt and use it as needed. Its the perfect solution for homes/apartments with no garage or backyard to do DIY projects The dust port works great and connects to a small 2hp shop vac. Almost no dust when using it. Really happy with that since my living space is surrounded by my work space. Less or no no dust is a super plus! The cordless option is a plus for safety reasons. No cord to trip over and get hurt in my small apt. Lastly, Dewalt is quality and customer service! Home Depot had a great sale that was $100 or more, less than other sellers. I applied for the consumer credit and was approved instantly with promotional financing for 6 months. Delivery was fast with no damage to the box or tool! With tools please never go cheap its too dangerous and not worth injuring yourself to save a few extra dollars as the cheaper options are not built well, break and some could cause serious injuries. This tool will last a lifetime with proper care. My overall experience as a first time owner of these types of tools is super great! There are thousands if not millions of people living in city’s with small living spaces that need access to good tools for work and projects. This Dewalt 7-1/4 “ Cordless Miter Saw with the compact folding stand setup is the way to go!

I’m a novice handyman/carpenter and lately I’ve been building plenty of cabinet doors and drawers for kitchen and bath remodels. This little saw works perfectly for cutting rails and stiles, base molding and door casings. Its compact size and light weight is a blessing for a 60 yr old man. I have a DeWalt 12″ sliding miter that I use for crown molding and when I need wider cutting capacity but, it’s heavy and bulky. The fact that this saw is cordless makes it extremely beneficial especially at job sites. I use the 5AH battery and, thus far, have not needed to change batteries on a job. OK, that’s the good…As others have stated, the listed height cutting capacity is somewhat misleading. That height capacity is only on the left side of the blade. The height capacity on the right side is much less due to the motor housing. This has not been a deal breaker for me as I make all my miter cuts using the saw’s excellent bevel cutting feature. Another concern I have is with the sliding rails. While they perform flawlessly, there is a slight, yet definitive, rubbing or grinding noise. This noise has been evident since day one of using the saw. Like I said, this doesn’t seem to affect the saw’s performance (thus far).Overall, I’m extremely happy with the saw and with the customer service at Home Depot where I ordered it.
